    Fridge for kegging question

I am going to use my little fridge for storing a keg + picnic tap (don't want to mess with bottles) The mini fridge has a freezer section that is just a plastic shelf that creates a section that freezes. If I take this out I have 29" to work with which I think will be sufficient for a ball...

    Help to start Kegging

Hi, years ago I was a home brewer and had to stop for a time. Recently i got back into it, but I don't want to bottle. So I am going to keg. I have found a good source for a CO2 tank and (ball lock) kegs. I am lost on regulator options. I am in Canada so I need to watch my shipping options...

    Kegging (Hamilton, On)

I am going to start kegging. Are there any restrictions on CO2 tanks in Ontario? I read that there needs to be some certification on the tank. (?) Anyone have any good contacts for equipment?

    Weird fermentation

I have been out of brewing for a while, but recently my wife encourage me to get back into it and so I brewed the small 3 gallon batch. As you can see in the pics there never really was a big krassen, yet it’s almost done (?). I didn’t even get much airlock activity I bought the clear carboy...

    Fermentation temps for S-04

I have used s04 before and had good luck with low temps, but i am wondering if my garage is too cold right now? My thermometer reads 15c (59f) It is my thermometer sitting in a shelf.....I don't have a way to check otherwise. I have a clear carboy and I see it is fermenting, it is swirling...

Cooling wart before dumping into fermenter question

I have been out of brewing for a while but recently jumped back in, I do not have a way to cool my wort quickly like I used to. I sometimes would dump hot wort straight into my Ale pail all but this time I purchased a clear fermenter not thinking about if it could handle the hot wort. See pic...

Jumping back into brewing.....a few questions

I took a few years off brewing (move for a job, busy etc) I want to get back into it and I think BIAB (2-3 gal batches) would be the best for my limited space. I am also going to try 30 minute boils (!) As well as I plan to try a "no chill, pitch the next day" method A question I have is...

How warm should saison fermentation be? (belle Saison)

I'd like to brew a saison this Monday but my basement is around 65. I can pitch around 80 and let it drop..... What do you think? I did one saison last summer and liked the peppery notes but I'm not sure I'd get that at 65.

Setting up my first keg (Question)

I am totally pumped. I am setting up my kegs and when I hook up my gas to the keg it sounds as if my regulator is whining, very quiet but stops when I disconnect the gas from the keg. I have sprayed the fittings with soap and do not see any leaks. There is a plastic washer that I am not sure...

    Looking to start kegging (Questions)

I have a freezer that I can use with a temp controller. I would like to start with 2 kegs but I don't understand how the regulators work. I don't want to buy a regulator that I can't add a third keg to someday. Can someone point me to a regulator that would work for two and possibly for a...

How clear should a saison be?

I recently brewed my first saison using Belle Saison. It's finished and tastes great, but I have been waiting to see if it will clear. It looks like there is yeast in suspension.... It's been 10 days and I will leave it for a few more but usually my samples are clearer..... I've only had one...

    Yeast recommendation for Wells IPA

I am in Canada and I have come to like a beer called Wells IPA, it suppose to be brewed in the heart of England yet my friend from the UK never hear of it :) I have a starting place for the recipe but I need a yeast. I am considering Windsor (Dry) but I am not sure. Without you tasting Wells...

    Bucket malfunction =question

I brewed a saison yesterday and pitched a rehydrated pack of Belle Saison around 4pm. I then realized my lid grommet was loose. No big deal, just covered with lid and an airlock. The problem is I don't know if fermentation has started. I can see through the hole and even take a pic...

Recommendation needed on a quick batch/recipe/yeast cake

So I am brewing a Saison on Monday and I have a pale ale in the fermenter that finished up real quick (S-04). So I am thinking of transferring it to a secondary to clean up and pitch something on top....I have never done this, but I don't get many brew days so I thought this would be a good...

    WB-06, weird taste

A few months ago I brewed my last extract beer, a wheat with WB-06, it had an off taste to it that I attributed to the extract scorching. I just tasted a hydrometer sample of an all-grain wheat batch I also did with WB-06 and the same taste is there. I have fermented both in the low 60's so...

    Need a simple stout recipe

I am relatively new to brewing and I have been hammering away at perfecting one APA recipe and I got it and love it.... I want to get a good stout preferably with Fuggles as I like their taste. I see many recipes that are very involved, I prefer something simple till I get the hang of the...
