The vanilla can be a bit overpowering if you split it. I usually use 2 beans unsplit for a medium beer and for a heavy brew like an imperial, it will usually be a single split with an unsplit Madagascar bean.

Ok I have it in the tun as we speak with a couple differences. Had to use the instant oats for a sub and used magnum as the 60 minute bitter. I think its gonna turn out nonetheless but either way I'll drink it.
These all sound good. My OG ended a little low (1.071) but I used a lot less Bourbon. The vanilla and chocolate flavors still came through strong. Great recipe but I ended up a little cidery cause I went a little too high with my ferment temp.
