    Basement E-Brewery

I've accumulated enough stuff to get started. My plan is to construct a two panel system. This is mainly because I have been able to salvage a NEMA-1 cabinet from work, and I bought a NEMA-4 Cabinet on E-bay. The NEMA-4 will be on the brewery shelf, serving as an operator station. The NEMA-1...

    Bottom Dump Valve

I am finally starting my E-brewery build: I'm making the boil keggle, and want to install a bottom dump valve. My question is; silver solder a threaded insert to the keg's top opening, flip over and remove the "bottom", or remove the top, as I did for my HLT, and silver solder to the bottom...

I've seen threads stating to add DME to raise low gravity. Is there a rule of thumb? How much extract to raise a given amount?

    Sensor locations??

I've gathered most of the parts for a single tier all electric rig. I'm good with the electrical details, except, I'm not sure where to locate my immersion sensors. I'm planning to have a HLT with a HEX, Rubbermaid Mash Tun, and a Keggle. I have two March 809's; one for hot water, and one for...

    Third Brew and First A/G.

My friend Jeff from work, a very experienced brewer, helped me with my first A/G batch. I had asked to borrow his Mash Tun and Keggle. He offered to deliver them to me and hang out to help. We decided to do a Porter-ish brew. My grain bill was; 10# domestic 2-row 8-oz Roasted Barley 7.6-oz...

    Brew #2

I just finished brewing batch #2, NB Cream Ale. I made some improvements in equipment and, I hope, the results. (I love the tinkering aspect of brewing) For the first batch, I used the kitchen stove to boil. I now have a turkey fryer. The first boil was never what I would call a "full" boil. I...

    Progress on First Brew

I just racked my first brew to the secondary. It's an Irish Red Ale from Midwest. I was a bit worried about fermentation, procedure, since it's my first. I started at 1.043 and it was 1.012 when I tested last night. I couldn't resist taking a sip, so I drank what was in my testing flask...

Been interested in brewing for a while now. I've been pouring over this site for weeks! (First delivery, a basic partial extract kit, in the mail.) All of the acronyms used here are getting my brain aching:cross:. Can anyone point me to a glossary, or offer one? I'm already researching an...
