I have a pin lock system and am at the end of my rope ! I am tearing through co2 because for some reason the gas post on my pin lock keg will not seal when connected to disconnect. I have tried everything, new posts, new o rings, multiple disconnects and nothing helps. I just put some Teflon...

OK so I have 2 tap kegerator. I carbed the 2 beers that were in there. had a problem in the past with finding the the co2 tank empty and flat beer so this time I checked it continually. Had my brothers over, we drank, I continued to check it for at least a week after that and all was fine. I...

Pumpkin ale without actual pumpkin ?

So I have decided to attempt an all grain pumpkin ale for the season. After much research I really do not want the mess/disaster of using actual pumpkin (real or canned) it doesn't look to me as if it adds enough to the finished product to warrant the headache. My question is, what would be the...

    keg question

I have a tapped corny keg in my kegerator. My question is if I want to force carb a second keg if I disconnect the gas line from the currently tapped keg will it hold the gas while I force carb the new keg ? I ordered a dual system and it will arrive on friday but I'd like to have my new batched...

I am force carbing my latest batch and a thought came to me. When I set the co2 to my desired pressure do I need to keep the tank on or can I get the pressure to what I want for force carb and turn off the tank ?

    Did I screw up ??

I am on my 8th all grain brew. Here is my worry. I made a porter on 10/21. I left in a vanilla bean and a cinnamon stick. I wanted to take out the cinnamon and vanilla after 2 weeks and not leave it the whole 4. I opted to move the porter to a secondary (never done that before) I always worry...

How does this Rye P.A. look ??

I have been playing around with a Rye P.A. recipe and after plugging it into Brewsmith I am wondering what some of you more experienced home brewmasters would think. Here it is......... 7.0# - Pale 2 row 1.5# - Flaked Rye 1.0# - Rye Malt 1.0# - Munich Malt .50# - Special B .50# -...

    Quick fermenting question

I now have a few all grain brews under my belt. All have come out pretty decent as far as I can tell. My question is how long do I need to ferment in my carboy. I have been going with 30 days then bottle or keg but is it necessary to go that long or generally will 2 weeks do it ?

    Low abv

So I brewed a Belgian Pale Ale 2 weeks ago. I used beersmith and all seemed well. My pre boil gravity was where it should be. My OG was even 2 points higher than it should have been. I brewed on 5/8 and took a gravity reading on 5/22. According to beersmith my FG should be 1.010. Instead it's...

So I got to thinking when my rubber gromet ripped AGAIN in a plastic fementing bucket. Why can't I drill out the hole and use a rubber carboy type stopper instead? Any thoughts or experience in doing this ??

    Leftover grains

I have been trying to decide if I should go with Northern Brewer or AHB to get my grains. AHB you can order fractional amounts but they are overall quite expensive. Northern Brewer however (excluding very expensive shipping) is priced a little better but no fractional amounts. Bottom line if I...

    Grains of paradise ??????

So I am thinking about doing a Sam Summer clone for my next all grain batch. The recepies I have come across seem to call for 2 oz of "Grains of paradise". I have now learned what that is but as one would imagine difficult to find. That being said between the difficulty in finding these grains...

    First all grain brew

So here it goes, I plan on my first all grain brew next weekend. I am starting with a Northern Brewer all grain kit because since its my first I thought it would take some of the thinking out of the process until I get used to all grain. Alas it hasn't. I noticed in the included instructions...

    Dry hopping question

Question regarding dry hopping. I want to dry hop in a secondary fermenter. Is a 5 gallon food grade bucket big enough for this if its a 5 gallon batch ? A 6 or 6.5 gallon fermintation bucket costs upwards of $15-$20. A 5 gallon bucket costs less than 5 bucks at Lowes. I'd obviously like to go...

    Counter flow chiller build

I have a question. I am going to make a counterflow chiller. I have read that just any garden hose won't do. It needs to be rated for high temps. To me this seems unnecessary,it can't get hot enough for long enough to do any damage while cold water is running through it. Any thoughts ?
