Easiest way to increase ABV in Brewer's Best Kit?

I would hesitate to serve beer that strong to the average mixed crowd, when they are probably used to ABVs similar to the kit you are trying to jack up.

    Removing labels from glasses

Anything you do will leave you with a glass that is uglier than what you have now. Ironically, SN is one of the few breweries that I don't have a glass from. Some store near you must have plain glasses, or if not, try the internet. Good luck.:mug:

My first brew, ran into some problems, help

I'd give it another two weeks in the bottle before judging anything. You're rushing things, which is typical for your first brew. Let this one sit, and brew another batch, only this time, don't use a bucket with a spigot, and figure out a way to control your temps. Keep reading this forum...

    Windsor yeast problem

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same problem that I am having now. I brewed a batch of brown ale using Windsor yeast. A couple of weeks after bottling, I noticed a couple of bottles had broken in the Rubbermaid. A week later, when I tested the ale, I had gushers. I had...

    Weird behavior with Windsor

I've used this yeast several times with the same results. Also, it doesn't attenuate as much as some of the other yeasts, by design. I've never had the rotten egg odor, but many other posters have, and I'm sure it's normal. Sounds like a good fermentation going on.:tank:

First Brew Day a Success - Thank You!

Good brew. I've brewed it three times, and it is always very popular.:ban:

    Brown ale done already?

Windsor yeast finishes high by design. I'll bet your ale is fine.:mug:

    Bottle Condition - Temperature Matter?

They may be okay at that point, but not as good as a couple of weeks down the road. Just chill and test one, so you don't waste too many. If it's not good, don't worry, it's just a matter of time.:ban:

Is all grain is that much better or is it just that you have become a better brewer?

I brewed with extract for three years, some were great, and a couple were clunkers. I did notice a certain flavor present in virtually all of the brews, that is not present in the five all-grains that I have since brewed. I agree that great beers can be brewed with extract, but much prefer my...

Does bottled beer taste different over 3 weeks?

You'll be amazed at how the beer improves with age, even beyond three weeks.:mug:

Can I put my hydrometer in my carboy for SG reading?

Hydrometers are very fragile. You don't want to risk your entire batch by lowering it in there.:mug:

I would start with your crush. What is your current setting?:mug:

    Listen and learn

When you have a good pipeline going, it's easier to be patient. Glad things turned out well.:mug:

    Homebrewing in the heat

Check out yard sales for a fridge. I've gotten mini-fridges for $10 that worked fine,(didn't always look great). Don't get the cube size, get the next size up. If you rip out the door racks, your bucket will fit just fine. I agree with the other posters that this step is far more important...

    First All Grain

After three years of extract brewing, I finally made the jump to all grain in January. It's a longer brew day, but I found it to be more enjoyable. I tasted the first one yesterday, an American Amber, and it was great. It's a cool feeling to know that the ale was brewed from scratch. Many...
