    Saving yeast from scorched batch

The scorch flavor compounds you've got are probably present in the trub and small amount of beer that you scooped up into the mason jar after fermentation. Did you wash before harvesting or just scoop up the trub? Check out Bernie brewer's sticky on washing yeast before harvesting...

    No fizz! Mileston wheat beer

16 deg C should be fine to allow for carbonation but it just might take longer depending on the strain. Lower temps will take longer for the yeast to consume the priming sugars and turd out the Co2, and depending on the yeast strain that temp could be pretty low. You could try raising temp, if...

    Iron deficiency/burning? Overwatering?

@Brewerelated, No I never found out. This guy in the pics is toast and my Mt. Hood started doing the same and stopped growing after taking off. Have added nothing to them, water once every 2-3 days.

    Iron deficiency/burning? Overwatering?

No I actually didn't take a soil test. I noticed yellowing and some burning a few days ago and researched it on the web. I found something that looked very similar to mine and someone had responded that it was iron deficiency, so I added a small amount of iron supplement. Then read they uptake a...

    Iron deficiency/burning? Overwatering?

Hey all, Just potted 4 varieties of hops and they are all kicking ass except this one. They all have the same soil mixtures, 1/2 high porosity 1/2 low porosity, continual release organic nitrogen food, iron supplement and a small amount of Ca Mg sprayed and diluted at 1ml/L of water. I water...

Zombie Airlock (awoken from the dead...get it?!?!?)

Yeast strain was WLP001 CA Ale. I'll give it another few days just to check. Gravity reading at transfer was appx 1.025, but at that point most airlock activity had stopped so I figured the transfer was warranted. Thanks for the replies, if something else comes of it I'll be back here.

Zombie Airlock (awoken from the dead...get it?!?!?)

So I just started up brewing again after 3 grueling years and have not had this happen before: Brewing a blind pig clone, racked to secondary and dry hopped, added oak chips. There was no activity for 3-4 days save a little "glub" every now and again. I go to check it this morning and it's...

high activity after pulling a sample

I have a german Hef fermenting and after 12 days I had zero airlock activity. I pulled a sample with a sanitized sample taker to test the SG, sanitized the airlock, covered the carboy with sanitized foil while i measured. After replacing the airlock i all of the sudden have some moderate airlock...

Can I save my band-aid beer?

Totally new to this, I was wondering if someone could give me some insight. This was my first batch in about 3 years and admittedly I forgot a lot of information and rushed it a bit, I was just anxious to get back into it. Pissed off the Beer Gods for suuure. This brew was a liquid extract...
