    What is the best serving temp for a barleywine?

    I tapped my keg of barleywine at room temp and I thought it tasted delicious and sweet at room temp. Then I cooled the beer down to like 40F and gave it a taste and its very different. It's not sweet when it's cold and it seems like the maltiness is very muted. Is this normal?

    I don't know why I waited so long, but, I am finally able to get the hop flavor from late additions

    ... and all I did was make use of a wort chiller. I opened the lid to measure FG and to start dry hopping but I took a taste of the beer. Man! I can finally taste a lot of the citra flavors! I now want to rebrew some of my older IPA recipes and see how much better they are after wort...

    Looks like infection before even pitching yeast

    Friend brewed, put wort in plastic fermentor, and didn't get around to pitching the yeast until five days later. Opens the lid and sees lots of bubbles on the surface. Infection? Pitch yeast anyway and see what happens?

    How much of a flavor difference is there of beer that has late addition hops when using a worth chiller. I currently don't chill and wondering if there would be a difference in flavor (let's say for an IPA) for a beer that has late addition hops if I started chilling?

    Anyone still milling grain with a hand crank???

    I did this for a few of batches using a corona mill... until I finally took the mill with me to Home Depot and found a bolt that fits into where the hand crank fits into. I just did a test run using a drill and I am loving all-grain brewing again! :D Please, for the love of the Homebrew Gods...

    Mash temp dropping by like 6F

    I use an igloo cooler. I measured the temp after mixing the grains and I got 154F, my target temp. However, 45 mins later I decided to take a temp reading and it was at 148F. I have never seen this before. What did I do wrong?
