    What is fermenting there?

Yes indeed, it ended abruptly at 0.990 with 9,3% abv. I have never seen yeast going from full fermentation to a full stop in 30min. It was like.. this is it! Checked with hydrometer and Plaato was mostly correct with a slight offset. Now the result doesn't taste bad, but is still too strong...

    What is fermenting there?

I have been brewing beer for many years now and have had some experiences with ciders but mostly from kits. I have plaato digital airlock that works well with beers ( it is a device that measures bubbles to provide feedback of SG and ABV through an app). Yesterday I thought I'd try what I...

Do they expect us to describe how painful and frustrating their screwed-up machine has been personally in order to obtain a better offer? This sounds very fishy. At the moment the description of the new version is the same as the old one should have been: app controlled? It was supposed to be...

Three batches of several beers forgotten in my basement

They were on the yeast cake. I don't do secondary usually. Wow 10 years, could never imagine it could leave that long! The reason I am afraid of botulism is that I usually brew low gravity beers, these must have been around 1038 or 1042 OG But I guess there is no way to tell then by trying it...

Three batches of several beers forgotten in my basement

Humm... this is embarrassing. I brewed 3 batches this summer and then week after week ... I suddenly realised that they have been sitting there for 6 months now untouched after finishing fermentation. No signs of nasty infection even though there quite few black stuff on the surface. My...

    25 years old kegs?

It just shocked me compared to my other kegs that were bought brand new. I tried PBW on the plastic to solve the black stains issue. It does reduce the issue but stains are still there. Probably it comes back just as bad after a week or so. Could try ArmoAll... perhaps isolating the rubber...

    25 years old kegs?

I purchased recently three corny kegs labeled as A grade. While cleaning I realised that the production year was stamped in the botom : 1993 ! The black plastic actually on top and bottom constantly leaves Black stains when handled. Is it even safe to use these kegs?

Interesting, I didn't know this. I was under the belief that Boiling = isomerisation of alpha acids so lower temperatures would be useless for that purpose. I just noticed that Beersmith also has this option and it does increase the IBU of the recipe. Thank you! I will try to see how...

If calibration is not required every week or so, it is good news. Can't say that I know yet everything by heart in the knowledge center but there are big chunks of information still missing there. ie. Brewing Preparation contains the following information on Sparging "Sparging is defined at...

Sure... but you mean "roughly equals to", because volume depends on density and the later much depends on water temperature... I agree that the designers have shot for a "NASA style" design that require absolute precision. You can guess that by the R2-D2 type of metallic squeekings that...

I just got mine today... it took like 3h to fill the gaps of the insconstistencies with the quick-setup-so-called-manual. Frankly I am not the type who criticises manuals, but this one is way off with the subjects : " you will be notified in the connected machines" except there can not be...

    Beer darkened during fermentation ?

I'd say Ph is now near 3.2 but gravity is yet 1.032 (OG was 1055). I will give it a week and see where it goes. I am a bit worried because it is unhopped. Should I just pitch some boiled hops?

    Beer darkened during fermentation ?

the beers in the picture are from the same wort. Now let me explain the series of accidents that led to this situation: My boiler died at 40 minutes after boil. I figured that I could still save the match and went on with cooling as usual. I split it in two vessels because I wanted to...

    Three lines beer tap?

Nitro ? there are a bunch of abbreviations that could start with "nitro" ;-) but it cannot be a gas or a liquid gas running through those lines because I believe they are not strong enough to withhold significant pressure. My idea is to create a sort of jockey box but dedicated to cooling...

    Three lines beer tap?

Thanks for your answers. it makes sense indeed why when I insert water on one line it comes out from another .... :-) I wonder If I could make a use of those glycol lines. Recirculate water from a jockey box ? but that implies leaving a pump running all the time...hmm

    Age and daily beer consumption.....

Just to point out that unless you state the ABV of your drinks, or count in alcohol units, these consumptions are impossible to evaluate. For example a persons that drinks "two pints" of 11% Imperial Ale is actually having 7 of what doctors call "glasses" of wine or beer or whiskey, while a...

    Three lines beer tap?

I recently purchased a secondhand commercial beer tap. It came with "new lines" but I just do not understand why should be three lines coming from a single tap. See attached pic. I could eventually end by dismounting everything in order to understand but I was wondering whether there was a...

    Brewie

Yep, if it ever shows up ! They sent out emails in november claiming that "all brewies are sent or on the way to you" I tried to contact them many times in January and all I got was: you will have your brewie.... soon ! They sent another update last week : "We'll start sending out...
