    Milkshake IPA

Now that looks like a tasty brew! Regarding the rice hulls, i usually use 1 bag (no idea how much that is just whatever the LHBS sells), but i have to sparge really slowly to prevent stuck sparge. Extends brewday by a lot relative to other brews i do so i just get to enjoy one more homebrew...

    Milkshake IPA

I have done this base recipe a couple times, and just this past time is when i added the lactose and upped the % of oats n wheat. The hop schedule has always been the same but this combo was the best ive done so far. As Blazinlow just said, i think FWH would go against the intent of this...

    Milkshake IPA

    Milkshake IPA

No i didnt cold crash mine. The hops had fallen by the time i moved from primary to keg. I usually secondary but not with this recipe, i want to get to it pretty quickly. It is very opaque and hazy but didnt have anything floating

    Milkshake IPA

Drink it early! Drink it often! The hop definitely dies out quickly but man is it good when fresh! Let me know what u think!

    Milkshake IPA

The lactose i think doesn't provide much flavor, i was adding to create more mouthfeel, which it does help with. Makes it a little more creamy feeling while the oats and wheat provide the body. Really nice beer but need to drink it fast! U can def taste a difference after a few weeks. The pic...

Outdoor Brewers - what do you do in the winter?

Wow, i think im the third AL brewer to this post, gotta be a record. Yeah, winter brewing isnt really an issue here...i think i did it in shorts and a long sleeve last December. I feel for you Norherners, i travel there for business occasionally and for some reason they always send me to...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I just love sunday morning brew sessions! Started heating strike water a little before 5, got a huge pot of coffee going. should get this done by 10, then its off to the golf course! Brewing a session ipa with my base recipe, using centennial, amarillo, magnum and wlp007 yeast. Should be tasty!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Batch #48! Decided on a german style summer beer, but amped it up by doing a hopfenweisse instead of the standard hefe. Found the schneiderweisse a few weeks ago and fell in love with this beer. Good brew session. Started at 8 to finish around 1am to help me stay up and get ready for night...

    What's your next brew? Why?

Im going to do a galaxy/nelson sauvin single malt dual hop pale using marris otter. I just kegged a stone enjoy clone and had some hops left over. This was my first try with either of those hops but i really like them so far.

    Confession Time

2 confessions: i always rinse the starsan foam out of the fermenter before adding the brew....that stuff just cant be 100% ok to leave in there. Also i always add the starter after 12-18 hrs after brewing to get the temp stable. No issues yet so this technique cant be all bad, right?

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Stone enjoy clone. Super pumped about this one! Amazing how much hops this recipe calls for. Nothing beats a sunday morning brew session.

    Sunday Morning

Woke up this am to start a sunday morn brew session! Stone enjoy clone. It is actually a little below freezing at start which doesnt happen here all that much, but makes for a great brew day, esp when it is sunny!

Imperial Stout Sweet Chocolate Milk Stout

This is easily the best stout, and nearly the best beer overall i have made. Fantastic recipe! I ended up using wlp023 for this one, which i love this yeast. Very creamy and smooth from the lactose. I absolutely love the chocolate after taste to this brew. I only have about 1.5 gal left and...
