Is it safe to cut out the freezer section of this mini fridge?

I want to make a fermentation chamber out of this model fridge. Is there anything imporant inside the plastic of the freezer compartment at the top or can I safely cut it out? Fridge link: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Magic-Chef-4-4-cu-ft-Mini-Refrigerator-in-White-MCBR445W1/100270346 Thanks

    High abv Wit help

I've been inspired to make a strong "Wit style" beer. By strong I mean a minimum of 10%, possibly as high as 12%. I have not made a wit or used a wit yeast before and the problem I see is that the White Labs wit yeasts are for 8% or below. Is there another yeast that I can add to the wort...

Reviews on the Bass Pro propane cooker?

I was thinking about picking up this cooker over the weekend, but someone in another thread mentioned that it under-performed. Now I am having second thoughts. Anyone else have experience with this burner? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Propane-Cooker-with-Aluminum-Pot/product/10205245/

    Question about keggle valve parts

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the term I would search for to find information on making this part...specifically the pipe/tube that goes from the valve through the false bottom mesh and takes the wort from the very bottom of the kettle. Here is a good example from morebeer's site...

    Juicing cherries for beer

I've been inspired by beers like Three Philosophers and Petrus Aged Red to try a cherry beer. In order to avoid all the sediment from a cherry puree, could I just run all the cherries through a juicer and add only the juice to the wort? I wonder if this would mean increasing the lb of cherries...

Does this extract recipe look OK?

I started the trial for BeerSmith and have been playing around with recreating one of the kits I've brewed as best I can remember. (I should have written down everything that came in the box) Can someone read through this and tell me if anything looks like it doesn't belong? Is the IBU too...

First few poors from the keg are full of sediment?

I've kegged a couple of really good beers so far, but each time the first 4-5 poors are really cloudy. Their is also a strong "sedimenty" taste to it. How can prevent this so the first poors are as clear as the rest? Thanks

    Sanke coupler question...

I want to keg a batch this weekend and allow it to age so I can get started on another brew. My kegerator only has 1 tap at the moment and I haven't gotten a distributor or another coupler yet, either. Can I just disconnect the coupler from the beer I currently have on tap, then reconnect it...

Saison kit yeast and aging questions

AHS has a relatively inexpensive Belgian Saison kit that I would like to have while my tripel ages out for a while longer. They suggest using WLP560 with this kit, but my LHS only has WLP565, 566 and 568. Can I use the 568 or either of the other 2 instead and get good results? I would also...

    Oktoberfest questions

I have a Brewer's Best Oktoberfest kit that has been stuck on 1.019 for about a week. Is it safe to go ahead and put it in the secondary to lager for a few weeks even though the instructions say the FG should be 1.013-1.015? Also, is it possible to just lager it in a keg inside the...

    Oktoberfest slow fermentation

I started a batch of Oktoberfest from a Brewer's Best kit last Sunday and as of this morning (Thursday) it still hasn't taken off yet. Here is a link to their instructions if interested: http://www.brewersbestkits.com/pdf/1028%20German%20Octoberfest.pdf I pitched the yeast around 60F and...

First beer advice - True Brew Belgian Ale

I will be brewing my first homebrew from a True Brew kit this weekend. After reading several old threads about True Brew kits and specifically their Belgian Ale kit, I plan to deviate from their instructions a bit. First, I was hoping some of you could possibly confirm what I will be doing is...

    JAOM help

I started a JAOM 2 weeks ago today and it has already slowed down to about 1 bubble through the airlock every 20-30 seconds. I though it would be quite active for at least a month? Is something wrong? The murkiness is going away and there is sediment on the bottom and also some suspended...

    First Mead help

I am new to homebrewing and want to start out with 1 gallon batches of mead. All of the different recipes out there are a little overwhelming, so I want to make sure I get everything right when I do this. I'm aiming for a sweet tasting mead with a good abv (10% or so, just for a ballpark...
