    Plastic keg lids

I'm looking for plastic keg lids. I can't find them in the stores. Metal lids are easy I have a specific need for plastic. I need at least 3.

[Initial Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

That would work, but I need to know what fields or values to change to update the keg level.

[Initial Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

Quick question. I'm looking to do some keg level monitoring using another method (other than flow meters). I got Raspberry Pints to display the keg level, but now what do I need to update/change to get that image to change on the screen. Is there a script or do I manually have to update the...

Feast day of St. Boniface (Patron Saint of Brewers)

Yes, they brew some good beers. They are having a Saint Bonifest this weekend.

Do I just not "get" diacetyl?

This is what I used: http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=3E30D7E5-475A-BAC0-55409D432277491E Some craft stores sell it. One word of caution it can stick with the glass even after you wash it.

Do I just not "get" diacetyl?

There are plenty of ways to do beer doctoring without spending the big bucks to buy the kits. Just google and you will find a bunch of ways to do them cheap. You can purchase butter flavoring and also green apple flavoring cheaply.

    opening a nano brewery

Yes, I've read the book. The advice is not particularly anything mind blowing, there are not a whole lot of specifics. You will get a couple interesting tidbits out of it, maybe some ideas you haven't thought of and I would say get it for that. It is by no means a guide.

    Continuing off flavors!

Stop treating your water with campden. I don't know why you would want to treat it? I would say try bottled water and don't treat it at all.

Brewometer kickstarter thoughts - digital bluetooth hydrometer

I thought the use of the wii mote was really creative. I really like the concept of this project because it can be sanitized and tossed into the beer. I think its cooler than the beer bug. I hope they try again with a much lower amount, sometimes you will see them relaunch and set their goal...

    Bluetooth hydrometer project

I backed this a few weeks ago. It's a shame it looks like it might not make it. Very cool gadget and a cool project.

    2014 BrewFest at Mt Hope

I've entered the comp. I may go to the fest as well, if I do it will be the early session.

Brewery Names: Do they affect your decision?

I'd be interested to hear where this thread goes. Me and a friend were serving beer at a homebrew event and one of the beers had a funny name and we got a lot of compliments on that name and people were interested in where it came from, so it was a good conversation starter at least.

I think I am done entering Homebrew Competitions

I disagree. I think the idea behind the BJCP is to provide some sanity and consistency to judging and competitions for brewers to use as a goal. I do agree that palates vary and interpretations vary, however, when a judge makes comments that are contrary to what the guidelines state then there...

I think I am done entering Homebrew Competitions

I agree with the bottling and handling issues. One of my best scoring beers was bottle conditioned, my theory is the conditioning was able to hold up better to these things because of the live yeast content. I also think there are judges who don't review the style guidelines before judging and...

I think I am done entering Homebrew Competitions

If you like your beer, and your friends and family like it (meaning they ask for more) then you are probably doing something right, keep doing it. I've found the same variability with comps. It's a tough thing to manage, especially when you think you have a good beer and you get a crappy...

The 2014 NHC First Round - Results/Speculation Thread

I initially found this as well. However, I learned a lot more after I studied the sheet more closely. Not detecting something is as valuable as what they detected. I think you can learn a good deal by what is checked. I do think it is frustrating though to get 10/20 and not know why you were...

Judging the beer that wasn't there.

OK, so I'll vent a little here. I just got my NHC score sheets and I feel slighted at the level of feedback that I got, especially for the money I paid to enter. Many local comps have done way better. For instance, I really got dinged on aroma for one of my beers, as in the judges just...
