    Lily of the valley

What about elderflower? It is certainly very floral and aromatic. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009Z8XA46?pc_redir=1405438905&robot_redir=1

    Bad Saaz experiences?

Bottled, corked, and caged. It was pretty tasty going in. I can't wait for it to carb up and be ready to go. I'll post a final in a few weeks.

    Belgian Dubbel Braggot critique

This is a little cloudy. It was the left over from the bottling bucket. I lost a LOT of volume to the yeast. 30+days in and fermentation has been done for at least 2 weeks but a lot of the yeast just kept floating on the top in balls that looked like tan cottage cheese. What did fall was very...

    Belgian Dubbel Braggot critique

I bottled this today. The taste is solid. It's pretty good even prior to carbing and chilling. The honey flavor is barely noticeable though. Maybe it will pop back up in a few weeks or months.

    Washing ECY01

I've got a supplication clone sitting on cherries right now. I'm going to bottle it in +\- 9 months. Is it possible to "wash" the bugs the way you would a straight yeast? I didn't think it wise to rack another beer on top of the year old cherry carcuses but really want to reuse the blend. (I...

    AG Rye Braggot

Did you make this? How did it turn out?

    Belgian Dubbel Braggot critique

I brewed this about 3 weeks ago. I'll be bottling and carbing to 3.5 volumes this weekend. This tasted absolutely horrible. The saaz hops are NOT tasty prior to fermentation. I tasted this over the weekend and it had improved dramatically. I can't wait for it to carb up. I'll post pics of the...

    East Coast Yeast Experiment

I've got an ECY01 Supplication clone sitting at around 3 months. I added 4lb of dried tart cherries about a month ago. It's pretty damn delicious right now. Fairly sour (with some help from the cherries) and a little funk.

    Bad Saaz experiences?

I've always tasted everything along they way when I do hydro samples, from mead (delicious) to wine(yummy) to beer(ok). This wort was the first thing that was OMFGWTF bad. Hence the concerned post. This was my 4th beer and I'm around 2 dozen total brews. I'm plenty patient, but was concerned...

    Supplication Clone+ECY01

I added the cherries about a week ago and snuck a little sample today. It is already pretty sour. Honestly I would have no problem drinking it right now...but I guess I'll sit on it another year, lol.

    Bad Saaz experiences?

I took a sample today and it wasn't horrible! The flavor is at around 10% of what it was, and if it decreases much more it'll be damn tasty!

    Q about cherry beer

Cherry pits in secondary can add a lot of body and flavor. Don't cut/crush them and use them as you would oak.

    Beer of the GODS..

Which Gods? I would think if they're the Æsir variety it would be some kind of Braggot, since the Norse gods were fond of mead.

    Bad Saaz experiences?

I don't think it's the water as it's the same brand of spring water I've used in several brews. Also, the "hop water" had a significantly higher concentration of whatever awful flavor that is. Nothing has changed about the brew profile (equipment, water, grain source, etc.)

    Bad Saaz experiences?

I brewed a belgian dubbel Braggot this weekend and everything went perfectly. I hit all of my temps, I was dead on on SG. Everything was perfect. Until I tasted the hydrometer sample. It had a super piney, slightly bitter, almost medicinal taste. Absolutely horrible. I've never used Saaz...
