    Water to grain question

    So im wondering what the difference is to adding the water to the grain or adding the grain to water in the mash tun.

    Question on chugger pumps

    I use my pump to transfer from HLT to Mash tun and from Mash tun to kettle and when my boil is done I use a separate sanitized hose from kettle straight to carboy no pump.

    So a friend of mine gave me a 2 year old wood mash paddle thats been used but its decently clean and has been sitting in his shed for a year. Its in good shape but was wondering what I would use to clean and sanitize it?

    Ive heard of dms being a problem and that I should not keep the lid on while boiling the wort and I dont. my question is after I get my strike water to temp I cover my keggle to keep temp so I dont use as much propane to warm it up again.     Flat beer in hydro

    I was just wondering if you open a beer and let it go flat can you put it in a hydro get get a ballpark fg reading that way?And yes I know I would still have to drink it or be smitten by the beer gods. Cheers.

    Cold crashing question?

    Ive done both but only bottled cold one time so far. It was a pale and didnt notice anything off so im doing it again with a brown tomorrow just to see. I hope more experienced people wil jump in on this.

    Im pretty sure i got a DMS problem

    Let it sit and brew more. Im not an advocate for age fixes all but ive seen bad beer get better over time. Chalk it up to the do not do list wich will grow long over time. As for fixing it fiddling with it might make it worse. try the dry hop if you want then id leave it be after that.

    When co2 pushes the water out will make a bubble sound. Depending on how your beer is fermenting. if its vigorous it will bubble more. Check to see if its filled up all way.

    Makes sense thanks. Im going to be reusing yeast so im guessing a 2000ml stater should be a safe bet?
