I can't wait to have a basement / house. Until then this is what we got.

My cellar mostly exists because my eyes are bigger than my liver, but it's getting respectable. Middle row is all homebrew, and so is one of the bigger boxes. The rest are filled with wales. Or something.

Should probably invest in one of them nice little fridges though... Anyone have any recommendations?

A craigslist fridge with a temperature controller works pretty well from what I hear. You can also just regularly peruse craigslist, a buddy found a fridge for ridiculous cheap there.

Here's what I work with...

In these two boxes, I have random cellaring experiments going. I'll occasionally put a bottle in there just to see what happens over the years. (yeah, that's a Westy Red Cap in the far box :) )

Here, I have my 88 bottle wine rack. Stouts are on the far left, then barleywines, Belgian ales, Geuze, Fruited Lambics, then American wilds. There are a few odd experiments mixed in there, too. I've really been drinking a lot of it lately, so it's a bit sparse.

This whole storage closet is underground and temperature controlled. This was my old guitar hygrometer/thermometer, but the hygrometer broke, so it went to monitor the cellar temp.

It's humble. But I like it.

I'm curious where you got that Red Cap. I tried it during my last trip to Belgium and it was AWESOME, if you haven't had it yet.

Also, how does your temp control work?

Picked up 2 red caps from a buddy in Belgium sitting on a case. Drank one and really enjoyed it!

I use a little electric room AC I picked up from Sears. $120 if I remember correctly. It keeps a small place like this under control very easily. I only run it in the summer months because, in the winter, it stays between 50-55 on its own.

Man, I wish I had Belgian friends. That's awesome.

That's what I figured you did to keep it cold, I was wondering about heating mainly. But, of course, basements rarely get THAT cold, even in the great white north.

This closet has two exterior walls that are in contact with the ground outside. It's a great retainer of temperature. In the winter, the walls are 40-45*. I love my set up

OK, it feels good to have never contributed these to BA, but whip them out to BT within a month of joining. I have another fridge or two I don't have pics of, and a few more wine racks.

I'll get them uploaded next time I have a really slow Friday like today.
Wow. I thought I had a lot of beer...

Also, nice to see that I'm not the only one storing their Bruery horizontally.

Too much beer, hahahaha, that's a good one man. HAHAHHAHAHA. Too much beer.

Do you even zombie apocalypse bro?

Oxidation is a terrible way for a beer to go...and far too many good beets are just going bad sitting in cellars with to much beer.
Lol you mistyped "beers" as "beets". TOO MANY CELLARED BEETS!

Anyway I totally agree with you and am trying somewhat hard to switch my cellar over from "this **** ain't gonna age, homeslice" to "aww yisss, I wanna drink that mofo in 10 years".

Beets cellar extremely well, some varieties store even better than potatoes.

I know, that's what makes it so ridiculous!

Although I don't know if Trades_Potatoes will stand for your blasphemy there.

I'll take my vintage beets over some brown oxidized potatoes any day. If I had my way, every potatoe sold would have a comic sans label instructing to eat fresh!

my house came with a perfect cellar of sorts. it has insulataed walls against the naturally chilled concrete walls. I can fit a good amount of beer in there, though I need to inventory what I have and free up some some space, I have approximately 20 cases in there right now.
When I moved into my girlfriend's house, it came equipped with an old jam/canning cellar. Now it has beer. Suppose it was a sign?

I use a 360 bottle vinotemp wine cellar I bought off craigslist at the beginning of the year works great. I have to put certain unfiltered beers upright 24hrs or so before I open them so that the dregs can settle to the bottom. Otherwise I got no complaints. I alread had the sideways versus vertical discussion over at BA. Cheers
