    Wood veneer on....a kegerator?

Looking for input/opinions from those much smarter than I. I have an old Kenmore kegerator that the wife hates the look of. Big black metal box, with the ugly laminate mdf top. The top should be easy enough, as I was thinking reuse the old top and once properly prepped put some wood veneer on it...

After 8 years, I finally took the dents out

While wifey has been letting me sssssslowly go back to fixing up my '51 Westinghouse kegerator (currently just an overflow fridge) the first thing I wanted to do was fix the dents that were put there the day of its arrival, when the straps gave way and it fell over in the back of a pickup truck...

Question for all the vintage refrigerator restorers....

.....how do you get these hinge covers off without ruining them??? I got this YEARS ago from a sweet old couple back when restoring the old fridges was the next big thing. It's an old 1950 Weatinghouse and now that I'm FINALLY hoping to use it for what I bought it for, I'm hesitant to just...

    Yet another carbonation stone post....

Sorry for posting about what has likely been beaten to death, and I did a search through the forums but I was just hoping for a bit more input. I plan on kegging for the first time coming up, and I snagged a couple diffusion stones off the 'bay for $6. I figured for that price, why not. I...

Larger batches in an Anvil 6.5

I've brewed smaller batches for years, which is why I went with the Anvil Foundry 6.5. However, once in a while I'd like to take a crack at a 5 gallon batch. Anybody out there try it, and what did you do? Parti-gyle? Reiterated mash? Double brews?

Pennsylvania Blichmann G1 Boilermaker (10 Gal), Blichmann 7 Gal Conical, and 4 used ball lock cornys

Getting back into brewing after some time off, so I'm selling some stuff I wont be using going forward for some much needed funds. Really would prefer to sell as a lot. Located in Berks County, PA so pick up is preferred. Shipping is up to the buyer to figure out if necessary. Both the...

    Hello.....AGAIN!

Greetings from "wonderful" Berks County, PA! Decided after a several-year hiatus it's time that I get back in to brewing! My father and my young son were my biggest helpers, and after a couple years of them asking me when I was going to start brewing again, I figured what the hell! Two recipe...

2.5 gallon keg buys: Reading, PA

I've had my eye on the brand new AEB 2.5 gallon kegs from beverage elements for a while now. They're currently $79.99 each, and I'm planning on purchasing 3 of them for myself. The $79.99 is the cheapest I've found ANYWHERE for these kegs by a lot! I contacted them about group buy discounts...

cleaning the inside of a chiller

I have an immersion chiller, and I plan on turning it into a CFC in the near future. It has built up a decent layer of green oxidization on the inside, and I'm not sure if this ought to be removed before running the wort through it or not. Not even sure it matters, as I'm sure over time even...

    Trouble picking kegs

I'm planning on finally making the jump to kegging :ban: I'm more of a small batch brewer, so I'm thinking of going with a 2-1/2 gallon keg set-up since that's what works best for me at this point. So, I'm having a hard time picking which kegs to go with, and was wondering if anyone had...

Jim Beam Red Stag, or separate bourbon and cherries?

Hey all. I was thinking of making a cherry bourbon porter and I'm on the fence between using Red Stag, or using bourbon and cherries separate. I was also thinking of throwing in some oak chips or cubes for a little bit as well. I don't want any one flavor to stand out TOO much, just...

5 gallon pin locks and disconnects - Berks County, PA

I have four refurbished 5-gallon pin locks that I bought a couple months ago and never used. They've been sitting in my basement since I got them. They were cleaned, de-labelled, sanitized, and new o-rings installed by the folks I bought them from. All hold pressure, and with no leaks...

Anyone use Brewtarget for partial mash?

I'm doing a 3-gallon, partial mash recipe using brewtarget 1.2.4. I noticed that the calculated batch and boil size is coming out to be 2.447 gallons. I'm worried that because brewtarget is using those numbers, that my final result is going to be pretty far off from what I'm hoping to get...

    Christmas Ale recipe critique

Working on a 3 gallon partial mash recipe for Christmas. This is the first recipe I've worked on where I am pretty much shooting from the hip, so please, be gentle. ********************************************************* Santa's Beerd - Christmas/Winter Specialty Spiced Beer (21B)...

    CO2 tank and accessories

It looks like I'm about to score a pretty sweet deal....I think. Found a guy who is selling a kegerator for $250, but is willing to sell me just the tank, regulator, hoses, and coupler for about $50. I think it's a good deal. What do you guys think?

vintage fridge to kegorator related question

I am purchasing a 1950 Westinghouse fridge which I plan to convert to a kegerator. The only vehicle I have to transport it to my house is a van which would require me to lay the fridge down on its side. It's only a 20 minute or so drive to my house from where I'm picking it up, and I'm seeing...

    New logo help

So, I decided to redesign my brewing logo just for the heck of it. Here are three versions so far, nothing is final just yet. Which one do you think is best? Any other suggestions? #1 #2 or #3

    AIPA with no secondary

So, I've made the decision after reading a LOT of posts on the subject to skip secondary fermentation and just keep my brew in the primary for up to 4 weeks, even dry hopping in the primary for the last week at a lower temp. Figured it was better to avoid the risk of contamination/oxidation...
