    Any PVC trellis advice?

I'm growing hops for the first time and its time to get my trellis up. I rent my house and I've been given the greenlight to do basically whatever I want with the backyard so in theory I could put a wooden structure up but I don't want to take on the expense/extra work of building something...

Hey all, I'm going to be moving from Seattle to Nebraska (of all places) here in the next couple of weeks and I have 10 gallons of beer that is currently sitting in carboys that needs to come with me. I keg and its ready to be transferred so no worries there but I've got a few questions...

    Fermentation Chamber Help

So I'm looking to piece together a Ferm Chamber big enough to hold 2 or maybe 3 carboys. I stumbled across a used, small, 8 bottle, wine fridge like this. Manufacturer says that it gets to 46 degrees at the lowest temp... I'm trying to figure out if something like this would be powerful enough...

Mash Tun is cracked, now what?

So I had big plans to brew to batches of beer in celebration of the 3 day weekend but after buying all of my ingredients I found that my mash tun was leaking. After buying a bunch of random washers, o-rings, and gaskets and trying to assemble them in a fashion that would keep the leaks away I...

Rubber Gasket inside cooler Mash Tun?

So the best solution I can currently come up with to get the inside of my mash tun sealed up is to use a rubber washer. The washer that I have on hand is a soft rubber washer that is intended for garden hoses (see below).... is anyone using something similar? I don't really want my beer to end...

Need some quick advise/suggestions on my first AG batch

I'm currently brewing my first AG batch on my stove top. I did it BiaB style and my efficiency is around 60% (I mashed 10.5 lbs of grain with 4 gallons of water in a 5 gallon mash tun TIGHT FIT). I was originally planning on topping this batch off with a gallon of water to bring the total...

Testing Efficiency. What should I do with the wort?

So I ordered a grain mill and I'm planning on stepping up the scale of my mini-mashes for future brews and stepping down the amount of extract that I use. I'm thinking that this weekend I'm going to pick up 20lbs of 2-row and start playing around with my system to see how much I can actually...

    Wyeast 3711 is Rad!

I brewed a Saison last Saturday and pitched Wyeast 3711 in it. My initial fermentation temps were in the mid to upper 70's for the first few days. As fermentation slowed it also got cooler in my closet and my temps were down around 64. I was a bit worried that I was going to be in for a long...

    No-Boil Forum Section?

Recently it seems like there has been a huge surge in the number of posts that we are getting from members who are using no-boil kits. Nearly every other thread that I click on is someone talking about mixing a can of A. with can of B., adding brew enhancer, and some yeast. I don't have a...

12v travel fridge for Fermentation Chamber?

Any chance in hell that a 12v travel cooler would be powerful enough to cool a small, insulated fermentation chamber? I'm assuming the answer will be a resounding no... which is unfortunate because most of these things have a warm and cool setting which would be pretty beneficial plus they've...

Simple DIY High Pressure Spray Wand for Cleaning Equiptment

So today was Brewery Spring Cleaning Day and I had some beer lines that were in pretty serious need of a thorough washing. Typically I will fill a keg with some hot water mixed with cleaning solution, pump some co2 into it and run a few gallons of water through the lines but today I had an...

Looking for advice from people who use a Food Saver to store their hops. I just won this off ebay for $17. Its the mini series and comes with whats pictured. The tube in the bag is for attaching canisters apparently. I know I've seen people saying that they use the canister adapter and...

EdWort's Apfelwein... Why you gotta be so good???

So at about 9:30 this evening I decided that drawing a pint of Apfelwein from the ole kegerator sounded like a good idea for a night cap... Long story short, 2 1/2 hours and 5 pints later I'm still sitting here combing through the forums. I've gotta be up for work in 5 hours and I can't stop...

Help! The pipeline is running dry!

Due to a recent move I haven't fired up the brewery in a couple of months. I'm itching to get another batch going but since I've taken so much time off I'm having a tough time keeping my focus on one style long enough to make a decision as to what I should brew... I've been digging on...
