Fermentation chamber went haywire...temps went over 100 degrees?

So I left to go on vacation over this past weekend and came home only to find my chest freezer / fermentation chamber at 115 degrees inside. Yikes! Apparently before I had left, I had unplugged it to get to the attic and when I re-hooked up the inkbird, I must have switched the heating and...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

LHBS was out of WLP380 Hefeweizen IV Ale yeast...they recommended WLP351 (Bavarian Weizen Yeast). Anyone of have experience with this strain?

Chest freezer went haywire, dropped temp into 40s?

So something went wrong with the temp controller on my chest freezer and after I pitched the yeast this morning (at low 70s), I came home tonight and the temp had dropped to the mid-40s (along with the beer). I took it out and am letting it warm up in the garage. Should I be concerned? Yeast...

    Help! First time washing yeast?

Another random question. After transferring the beer from the primary...how long can I wait to collect the yeast/trub? I have two batches that I kegged on Thursday night which I haven’t gotten around to collecting. Buckets are empty, but there is still a nice yeast cake at the bottom of each...

How could I be so stupid?

I had taken a FG reading the night before and just got the buckets messed up. I was worried given the beer was still clearly in the process of active fermentation. Hopefully it picks up where it left off. We’ll see how it turns out. Thanks for the input.

How could I be so stupid?

So I currently have four different batches going on in my freezer (which I converted to a fermentation chamber). Tonight I went to keg one that was finished and as I was locking the lid on the keg down to hook the co2 up...I noticed tiny bubbles coming up from the bottom of the yeast cake in...

    Help! First time washing yeast?

Thanks guys! I combined the jars and washed it one more time. Got a pretty nice layer of yeast in the bottom (about a third of the jar). I decanted top layer and pitched it directly into the fermenter last night (IPA, OG 1.055). No action in the airlock yet (been little less than 24 hours)...

    Help! First time washing yeast?

This is my first time washing yeast. Need help identify the layers. Is the bottom layer trub or yeast? I’m thinking I need to do a wash again...do I keep the middle layer?

    Help with co2 leak?

Thanks for the tip! Did you switch the valve poppets or do you mean you accidentally put the liquid post on the gas “in” side?

    Help with co2 leak?

So I bought two used pinlock kegs from a local brewer. Claimed they were pressure tested. I took them apart to clean (including the posts and poppets). Anyway, I reassembled, kegged, and went to hook up and noticed there is a leak coming from the bottom of the gas “in” post. I thought it might...

How is this even possible (RESOLVED)?!

Grains were pre-crushed. Just tore open the bag and into the steeping bag they went!

How is this even possible (RESOLVED)?!

NB is replacing the kit! They were super responsive and offered to send a new one...no questions asked. Have to give them credit with their customer service! Hopefully I have better luck with this one. Beermanpete - not a bad idea on the Black and Tan!

How is this even possible (RESOLVED)?!

No, I don’t remember them being that dark. Should have looked closer at the bag.

How is this even possible (RESOLVED)?!

I agree. There is no way I could have messed it up this bad. Steeped 1 lb of English Roasted Barley (or at least that is what I thought it was) for 20 mins at 160-170 degrees. Followed by 6lbs of Gold liquid malt extract during boil. 2oz of hops at 60 mins.

How is this even possible (RESOLVED)?!

No offense. Still a newbie. This is my 5th kit. Everything has turned out pretty good so far. Thought I followed it correctly. Seemed easy, very few ingredients. It looked that way going into the fermenter.

How is this even possible (RESOLVED)?!

So I purchased a dry Irish stout extract kit from NB. Brew day was about 3 weeks ago, looked very light going into the fermenter but thought I’d let it ride. Went to take a sample today and this does not look at all like a stout! Smells, looks, and tastes pretty much like a miller high life! Far...

    Decarbonation Method

Did replacing the o-ring help? I’m having the same issue. Not sure how an o-ring would cause foam but I’ve read the same thing.

    Need help troubleshooting first keg!

The beer lines were frozen. Easy fix! Now I think I overcarbed it...way to much foam. Ugh, always something it seems when your setting up.

    Need help troubleshooting first keg!

Initially I get a few drops but that’s it. Yes, the lines stay filled with beer. Just checked again this morning (after I had a beer last night), and again nothing. Noticed there was some ice that was still frozen at the bottom of the fridge. I’m thinking the lines are frozen. I’ll try to thaw...
