I have a very busy work schedule and brew when I can, but I can't drink all the bottles and also want some critiques on my brews. Looking for some other local home brewers in Tacoma WA or Federal Way WA area that wants to sample some beers! Not caring about swapping - I need drinkers! Current...

As much as I like to support local only, I also use More Beer to get supplies. The way gas prices fluctuate, the free shipping from them really helps the wallet!

Hop storage with ziploc vacum sealer

Might be more economical to buy the bags by the roll, then pack the whole thing in one bag, but leave extra space. That way, when you need it, you can pull out some hops, and re-seal the same bag. Less wasted plastic, less $$ spent on the bags = more $$ for beer ingredients!

How long have you suffered through bad batch of homebrew?

I've dumped quite a few infected batches down the toilet (really!) I've also made an overpowering Sage Ale, which I kept - and simmer brats in. That one batch has lasted over a year, and the simmered brats come out AMAZING!

Any problems with storing whole grains in freezer?

I got a couple of those Northern Brewer plastic fermentors very cheap during black friday or some other sale. I store grains in those and cap with plastic in a cool garage. Doing fine. Already had a bunch of glass fermentors and haven't had to use the plastic ones yet. Bonus is you keep the...

    Post your infection

Don't have pics as they ended up being dumped, but I must've had at least 5+ batches of infected beer before I realized the problem. I bottle, and I never realized you could dismantle the bottling spigot!!! I used to just soak the whole thing in Sani and call it good, and then after 5+...

    Stuck fermentation? High F.G.

One thing I've been doing recently, is @ 15 mins near the end of the boil, throw in a old packet of yeast. I was able to score about 30-40 old bags of yeast (looks like leftovers from kits) for very cheap! So for each batch, along with some Wyeast nutrient, I throw in one of those old packs of...

    cleaning brew equipment

One thing I didn't learn until later -- don't keep your sani mix more than a week. I used to pre-make those and use them a month later, and didn't realize they lost strength, so ended up with infected batches because things weren't getting sanitized!

    Hop Combinations and Suggestions

New guy here but not new to home brewing. Been brewing for about 5 years now. Just don't get to brew as often as I would like - way too busy with work. Over the past year, have accumulated quite a hop collection (e-bay bids!) Got them all at good deals, now I'm trying to figure out what to...

Yet another new guy from Seattle

Homebrewing for about 5 years. Brew in a bag style, but I get very good efficiency! Using a stove + heatstick or can do dual-heatstick and no stove. I don't like to brew the standard styles, I like to experiment. Bottle only, no kegs. 5 Gallon batches usually.
