    head/carbination question.

So I finally tried my first bottle of my first batch last night. Caribou Slobber brown ale from NB. It didn't really have any head, and the carbination seemed low. I used Palmers sugar calc. And dropped from the included 5oz to 4 oz of priming sugar because I didn't want to over carb. Never...

    In carboy cooler.

As anyone used one of the plug in fermenter coolers? If you haven't seen it, it is a cooling bar attached to a thermostat that fits in the neck of a carboy and cools the wort from the inside. looks like a great idea if you dont have space for a BEER frig for the garage...... Discuss

I am able to borrow a refractometer from work when I need it. Should I still invest in a hydrometer? Or use the refractometer from work until I by one of my own?

    2.5 or 5 gal boil?

Finally received my NB starter kit!!! The kit is designed to boil 2.5 gal of water, then combine with 2.5 gal reg. water in the primary ferm. I will have a 7gal pot and burner to boil outside. Woul it be better to boil all 5 gal together? Will this improve the quality? It is for the "slobber...

    Wort cooler question

I have seen two types of copper wort Emersion coolers. One where the coil is put in an ice chest, and the wort goes through the inside of the pipe. And one where you hook up the chiller to a hose and run cold water through it while swirling it inside your container (bucket, job cooler, keggle...

    Beer kit advice.

I'm trying to decide which kit to buy. I had my eye on the deluxe kit from NB. After noticing the $35.00 S&H fee I decided to look around at other kits that might have free shipping. From what I have read kits using glass carboys are the way to go (sanitary) any advice would be awesome. Hoping...
