Dry hops keep sinking in new fermzilla

So I’ve brewed a few neipas in my fermzilla all rounder the one thing I’m noticing now that I’m pushing co2 into the headspace post dh and also doing a short soft crash to drop the beer temp to 60 deg is that every time I then dh the pellet hops almost immediately sink to the bottom and I feel...

    First spunding valve a coming

So i have the fermzilla all rounder and after my last neipa which turned out fine I wanna maximize this fermenter so figured we’ll spunding is the next step. So I bought what’s in the pic and should be here before my next brew next week another neipa. How do I use this exactly. Just pop it on...

Old recipes on beersmith carry over

Ok thanks I’ll look into it. It’s not an apple so idk if the cloud is even an option. I may just screenshot some of em and just download the updated version onto the new computer as it has more hops, grains and options than the original version on my old computer.

Old recipes on beersmith carry over

So we got a new laptop so my wife transferred over to a hard drive my Bru’n water files but not the beersmith program. If i download a new copy of the beersmith program onto our new computer will my old recipes be saved under an old profile or anything. I had a lot with notes that I really want...

    Kegging a BA stout. Plan?

Thanks for the tips. Why 8psi? I like my stouts on the low end of carbonation, literally just enough so it’s not totally flat. I feel in a big stout it improves the mouthfeel. This is also my pressure 8-10psi I use for neipa’s as again I think it just lends to that creamy slicker mouthfeel...

    Kegging a BA stout. Plan?

So my plan is to transfer from secondary to keg then set at 30psi for 2 days to quick carb it, no rolling or shaking but I’m gonna put it in my keezer at 36deg. After 48hrs i was planning to drop to 6-8psi for serving pressure. My question is before I drop to serving pressure do I need to pull...

    Sluggish yeast????

So there’s only 1 store near me and I know they sell the new dry version of London ale 3 so maybe I’ll just go with two packs of that and rehydrate it and pitch it.

    Sluggish yeast????

So I made a neipa Saturday, 1.080og, pitched two packs of omega dipa oly-52 ie Conan, into fermenter with fermometer reading 64deg. Placed fermenter in my basement where it’s 69-70f ambient, fermometer reading 66-67 now BUT there is absolutely zero activity. What gives. It’s like I didn’t even...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Thanks for posting those but let me clear up my statement. I have a temp controller on my keezer it’s an older unit but that’s what was on it when I bought it off the guy last year however I meant having an independent ferm chamber To use for crashing. Typically I have a keg in the keezer and...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

These are the experiences I’m looking for. Thanks. how long do u soft crash at 50? In ur experience is it more important as to the time it sits at 50 or that the fermenter is just cooled to shock and drop the yeast Regardless of time it takes to get there. For me it only takes about 2-3hrs in my...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

how Is that a benefit? Don’t we want he hops to float and break up thereby coming into contact with more beer and releas8ng more oils. If they sink and stay in pellet form doesn’t seem like were getting all the good extraction out of them.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Ok glad I’m not the only one. I’ve read countless threads where people soft crash and no one else mentions this happening made me think I was doing something wrong. so ill let it warm back up a little more and try that and maybe using a yeast that doesn’t completely drop 100% like kviek will...

    Fermzilla Flat Bottom Fermenter

Oh I dont pressure ferment I just pressure transfer to kegs. But i bought this after I broke a glass csrboy and I immediately love the fact that it’s so much lighter and I bought the carrier strap that connects the fermenter to its stand so I can carry it all as one unit. I think the only diff...

    Fermzilla Flat Bottom Fermenter

I just got the all rounder and am using it this weekend. Plan on pressure testing it with some water tonight or Tomm. I also have the closed transfer cap for it too since hats how I transfer into my kegs.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Soft crash question. When I did this recently on 2 neipas using kviek the hops just dropped right out almost immediately. I pulled my carboy out of the keezer when temp hit 50 then I added 4oz of pellet hops and instead of them floating and breaking up half just sank. Any idea why this would...

How accurate is this fg reading

Thanks yoop. Yeah the fg got down to where I wanted it, smelled great so thinking I’ll pull it Tomm night and co2 transfer it into a cold keg, so it’ll be cold the entire time. Then I add some keg hops in a suspended sack for a little extra aroma.

How accurate is this fg reading

Sooooo what would i expect if I already started the cold crashing process oh like 24hrs ago? let It warm back up and finish out of just transfer it with my keg hops, in a bag of course.

How accurate is this fg reading

Even if it goes from cold crash then pushed into a cold keg and placed in the keezer. I dry hop in my keg so it doesn’t have to warm up before I transfer it into the keg.

How accurate is this fg reading

i have a neipa that stalled on initial fermentation so with the touch of a little alpha amylase enzyme and some rehydrates us05 fermentation kicked off again a day later. So it’s been fermenting now for 2+ days and I checked the fg reading, as It being a neipa and all I don’t want the fg...
