    Saving a grassy beer

2 weeks in fermenter. I've added gelatin to keg so I'll give it a week or so carb up then try it. Hopefully the gelatin will clear the veg taste.

    Saving a grassy beer

Yeah I was thinking the Galaxy too. I dont mind trying a couple of ounces to try and save it. The beer was cold crashed and I used a floculent yeast so not sure it'll change much

    Saving a grassy beer

Ive just kegged an American Pale ale that had 2oz each of cascade and galaxy hops at whirlpool (no dry hops yet). Pulled a pint and it has a distinct grassyness about it. Almost undrinkable. Was thinking about dry hopping in the keg with a different hop to save it somewhat. Any suggestions on...

    Grainy malt taste

Thanks for the replies. I’ve tried all the usual suspects... Munich, Vienna, victory, biscuit but never get that strong malt/ grain taste. I’ll take a look into the low oxygen brewing. I had no idea it made a lot of difference. Maybe I need to find a better source of quality grains. There are...

    Grainy malt taste

I’m trying to brew a malty beer (an amber ale or even a low hopped American Pale ale) with a very grainy taste. I’ve tried various malts in previous recipes but can’t achieve what I want. I’m thinking of a beer like the wort straight-out-of-the-mash-tun grainy taste. If anyone understands what...

    IPA hop schedule

To be honest, I’m quite haphazard when it comes to recipes (and brewing in general) but have enough experience to make decent beer. I think there’s too much thinking goes on usually. For example, I’m pretty sure if you made two identical ipa’s with a huge whirlpool charge, with and without a 30...

    IPA hop schedule

Brewed this last night and used your hop schedule. Thanks. Just added some Amarillo at 30mins for additional interest. I’ll update in a couple of weeks when it’s finished.

    IPA hop schedule

Some good ideas here thanks. I may keep the IBUs under 70. 2-row, Munich and maybe some light Crystal seems the norm. Tons of late and dry hop but I will keep some mid-boil additions.

    IPA hop schedule

Looks good thanks. I don’t mind dank and bitter after all the neipas ive been drinking recently. I’ll enjoy an old school ipa lol.

    IPA hop schedule

Looking at brewing a West Coast IPA with traditional hops. I have lots of C hops, chinook, centennial, cascade and Columbus. What hop schedule and quantities of these hops do you recommend? Thanks!

How low can you go? (outside temps)

I brewed a batch on the front porch at -13f last year. There was so much steam it looked like the house was on fire!

    Recipe critique

I’m trying to cold crash my Denny’s yeast...after 24 hrs it’s still only half clear!

American Amber Ale Hoppy American Amber or Malty American Pale Ale?

I’ve brewed tho a beer several times and it never seems very hoppy to me. Still a fantastic beer and one of my favorites. Drinking one now that I added a lot of late Amarillo and centennial but again, not that hoppy. Think dry hopping would make a big difference.

    Recipe critique

Thanks. Yeah the crystal is pretty high but red trolley do use a lot too. I decided to brew it tonight...just mashing out now! I added the special b to try and get that raisin taste and add another dimension. I’ll let you know how it turns out in a month or so, but go ahead and brew it too haha.
