Bluetooth hydrometer project

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/baronbrew/brewometer-wireless-hydrometer-and-thermometer?ref=email This may have been posted already, but this is an awesome idea. I would definitely snag one if they succeed in finishing. It's a wireless hydrometer and thermometer that will interface with...

10 Gal rubbermaid with false bottom efficiency?

Hi all, I just upgraded my mash tun and I am about to design a beer. What kind of efficiency are you getting with your 10 gal rubbermaid with false bottom? The kind from northern Brewer? I know it depends on a lot of stuff, I just want a baseline number for beer smith.

The final result of my single tap kegerator conversion! Just built a larger tower to replace the single tap chrome one.[/IMG] built the tower out of MDF, and used tinted laquer to finish. [/IMG] Added a manifold to the inside for 3 kegs, and had to carve a little insulation...

    Wyeast 3724 Temp Profile

I'm making a Saison tomorrow, and I'm using Wyeast 3724. I have a temp controller. I was planning on pitching in the upper 60's, leaving it at 70 overnight, then increasing to 77 for a couple days, then the 80's after a few more days, and finally up to the low 90's after a few more. Sound ok?

    Bad yeast?

So... I brewed a black saison four days ago. OG was 1.062. Same process as always, never had issues before, so sanitation shouldn't be the issue. Made a starter that seemed normal, had good activity and all. Pitched and it took off after a half day or so. I had a good bit of krausen blow through...

    Undershooting/ Overshooting Gravities

Word For my last few batches, Ive used Belgian Pilsner twice, and ive undershot my gravities by about 4 points. I did a Maris Otter pale malt and overshot my gravity by about 4 points. I think the culprit is an inconsistent crush from the mill at my LHBS, guessing that it was adjusted when I...

    Blichman beer gun question

I'm looking into starting a keg setup. If I use a beer gun does it fill a bottle like a normal bottle, cap it and drink it whenever like a normal bottle? Or is it more like getting a bomber filled where you only have a day or two to drink it before its flat? Thanks!

    Hop shortage

I'm in Denver. Went to the LHBS and we're out of a ton of different hops. The IPA hops are gone. Amarillo simcoe centennial etc. Is this hitting everywhere or just here? Just wanting to know/ starting to panic.

    Small batches with normal equipment

I recently found my old Mr. Beer fermenter keg that I had stashed away in a storage closet and forgotten about. I am planning on using it to do some small batches of "experimental" beer. Mainly as a way to save some costs on high gravity beers that I have some ideas to play with. Anyways, I...

Today was the annual homebrew competition at Dry Dock Brewery/ Brew Hut in Aurora Colorado. There were over 350 beers entered into 7 categories. I went to the contest with a few of my friends who brew. Needless to say, we were happy about the results. My friend Joe won the gold medal for the...

    First time using starter

So, I did my first starter with a batch of Wyeast 1028 London ale. I was careful with sanitizing the starter, it had a nice little layer of krausen and smelled fine when I pitched it. Used Mr. Malty to determine the size. The package of yeast was a few months old, manufactured early...

    Eliminating chill haze

How do I go about getting rid of chill haze in my beers? I started with extract brewing about 9 months ago and jumped to all-grain two months ago. My extract batches are all crystal clear in the bottle until they're cold then they're hazy. My all grain I just tried is less hazy but still has...

    Wyeast 2308 munich lager question

I used Wyeast 2308 Munich Lager for a batch of Munich Dunkel. I pitched the yeast at about 68 degrees, and let it stay at that temperature for 12 hours to get started. I then lagered around 48 - 50 degrees for two weeks. My issue: during primary fermentation, the smell coming out of the beer...
