    Wyeast 1098 recipe ideas.

I have an ESB that I'm brewing shorty and was trying to think of another beer I could brew and just rack onto the yeast cake from that batch so I could reuse that yeast. I've been trying to get two beers from a Yeast pack and lately my brain has been so fixated on working on my house that I'm...

    One year under my belt

This week marks one year of home brewing for me and I'm totally hooked. I started off brewing with all grain. I managed 16 5 gallon batches in my first year. Just got done making a starter for my beer tomorrow and I'm super stoked for my future brews. Cheers all and happy brewing :mug:

    Adding Chocolate at bottling?

I brewed a double chocolate stout which at first was going to be just a chocolate stout but i had some cocoa sitting around so i decided to throw it in with about 15 minutes left in the boil. I weighed it out and it was about 4 oz worth give or take a little. When i took the gravity I couldn't...

    Under Carbonated Bottles.

I have a theory on why they are under carbonated but here are the details. Brewed a Sweet Stout bottled it for 2.3 volumes of C02 using 3.75 oz of corn sugar. The beer was at 71ºF. The basement was at 78 and it was near 100ºF for 3 weeks straight outside so I'm sure the basement hit over 80 at...

I used Wyeast1318 London Ale III yeast which says low temp is 64 and my closet where i was fermenting was at 65. So should i...

My worst brew day so far.

I just got done brewing my 4th batch ever. My first 3 went very well. Today not so much. Missed my mash temp by 2ºF was aiming for 154 got 152. First time i've missed my mash temp. I collect my boil volume of 6.75 Gallons. When my boil is finished I'm looking at it like WOW thats not 5 gallons...

    The results are in.

My first beer is finally ready to drink. So i opened up pour and enjoy the wonderful color. Poured very little to no head at all. Decent carbonation to it. Has some hop bite to it due to me not doing a good job keeping everything out of the fermenter. Considering i accidentally crushed my auto...

Putting the Chocolate in the Chocolate Oatmeal Stout

I'm planning on making a Chocolate Oatmeal Stout and i was curious about different methods to go about this. Ive seen recipes that people put coca powder into the secondary or people boil chocolate nibs during the boil. I was wondering how these different methods affect the finished product and...

Should i use a secondary or bottle.

Just did my first beer and I'm wondering if i should rack it to a secondary or leave it in the primary for 2 weeks then just bottle? I made an American Amber.
