    Starsan turned cloudy in keg

I have had a problem with beer going bad after a week or two in the keg. I think my problem was inadequate cleaning and rinsing of Oxyclean. I have switched to PBW and I am slowly getting away from this problem. The rinsing is easier and my equipment is becoming squeaky clean again. The...

Is this going to make me sick/dead?

Hello all! I know nothing that is going to live in beer will kill me but let me run this extreme scenario by you all. A friend of mine gave me an extract kit that had been in his garage for over three years. In south Florida this can be +100F. The hopped amber extract can was blown out...

    Dip tube brush supplier?

I have two now. The first had larger diameter bristles and cleans well but may have been too large. It bent and kinked to the point that seems like it will break at any time. The second, which was to be a replacement and was purchased from a reputable online vender, is too small in diameter...

    Ultrasonic cleaner

Anyone ever try one to clean small or hard to reach parts like ball lock fittings + parts? Picnic tap or faucet parts? I am looking at one on Amazon that has a stainless basin so it should be ok with homebrew cleansers.

    Removing Cpvc cuttings/clingons?

Does anyone have any tricks for removing bits of cpvc that are loosely attached to a manifold after the slots have been cut with a hacksaw?

    water adjustment vs boiloff rate

I need a simplified water adjustment answer. I recently changed boil pots. The new one is much wider and my boil off rate has increased from 10% to 18%. When I use the EZ_water_adjustment spreadsheet, it has me increasing salts compare to the smaller pot. I realize this is because I am...

Converting Bayou Classic SP10 to Natural Gas

I just got this and the only time I have really used it was to burn the paint off and boil some water in a new aluminum pot. Since I used a considerable amount of propane, and I have natural gas at home, I decided to try to convert this to natural gas. I found a chart which listed orifice...

    holding autosyphon?

I know this seems kind of basic but are there any tricks to holding or somehow supporting an autosyphon during transfer? I seem to either disturb the whirlpool in the boil kettle or knock stuff of the side of the fermenter. Thanks, Steven

North Palm Beach, Florida - - Salute!

Although I have made a few posts, here is my official introduction. 1st - extract, no real recipe stout = pretty good 2nd - extract, turned a Corona clone into a Shocktop since I did not understand fermenting at too high of a temp. 3rd - all grain, missed temps not preheating cooler mash...

    bending dip tube

What is the best way to do this without kinking it? How far are you supposed to go to avoid sediment? I am thinking that I want to bend it to where the keg wall leaves the vertical and starts the bend to make the bottom. Thoughts? Thanks, Steven

    Double batch results

A while back, I posted the following: My goal is to fill two corny kegs from a single batch. I am limited by my boil kettle (turkey fryer) to roughly 6 gallons. I am considering mashing and boiling to get 6 gallons of 1060 for example. Put 3 gallons in each fermenter bucket and top off each...

    Apfelwein o-rings

Anyone change them out if beer is going in next? All 5 were new when the Apfelwein went in. Thanks, Steven

carbonating water - bubbles in liquid line

I am new to kegging and have recently purchase a new kegging system. I have been testing with water so that I don't have to learn the hard lessons with beer. I have 5 foot, 3/16 lines on a picnic tap. Kegs and CO2 inside a regular freezer on top fridge. Top of the fridge compartment 42 deg...

Brewing Half of a Double Batch?

Hello all! My goal is to fill two corny kegs from a single batch. I am limited by my boil kettle (turkey fryer) to roughly 6 gallons. I am considering mashing and boiling to get 6 gallons of 1060 for example. Put 3 gallons in each fermenter bucket and top off each with 2 gallons to get 10...

picnic taps - long term under pressure ?

I am considering a basic kegging setup in which the keg and co2 would be inside a regular refrigerator. Is there a concern with regular picnic taps being under pressure for long periods of time? I really don't want one to fail and have all the beer pushed out all over the fridge and carpet...
