I purchased a 2 L polypropylene Erlenmeyer flask from Amazon today. My goal is to use it with my existing stir plate to create yeast starters. I selected polypropylene as it was significantly less expensive ($7) than glass/Pyrex ($30) and has a screw top.

It can be placed repeatedly in an autoclave (pressure cooker) without damage, as its melting point is 160 °C. I suspect it could even be heated on a hot plate on a low setting without issue. (The yeast would be killed before the flask would be.)
I searched all over the web and I could not find any information regarding the usage of polypropylene versus glass for brewing. I can’t be the first. Does anyone have an experience with such a flask?
