Has anyone done this? Was the pressure ok without blowing up the bottle? Did the beer taste ok later after warming up? Or should I bottle?

If I do bottle what needs to happen when I take it out of a keg to bottle? Add sugar? Or just bottle?

I want to bring a home brew to a friend I am visiting and was curious if this would work?

Why can't I just star San the bottle and pour directly into it from the tap?

You should be fine pouring carbed beer, at low pressure, from tap to sanitized bottle. If it were me though, I'd fill a couple of bombers rather than a growler. Only because I feel like they'd stand up better to rough treatment by the baggage handlers.

Actually why not just mail them and then you don't have to worry (much) about them. That way you can pack them securely and not be paranoid if they break and leak everywhere.
