small request - names in sig please?

Hey fellow brewers,

So I've been thinking. Is there any reason, other than your ethanol induced paranoia, that most of you don't put your actual first name in your sigs? It always feels weird replying to people and calling them by their screenname (especially when it's something like ballzack or something). Imagine being at your local brew club meeting and addressing everyone by krotchrot, et al.

Personally, I prefer some anonymity except with people that I've gotten to know. Paranoia, I suppose. You already know my town (which isn't that big) and my DOB.

I almost always sign my posts with my name, and used my real name for a user ID until last week. I think just about everybody around here knows it and uses it, and I like that.

The people that I've met in person, done a beer swap with, exchanged PMs with, etc, all have given me their real name of course. I've never really been bothered either way- I know the_bird's name but always just think of him as the_bird. In fact, when I met Wolf in person, I had to remember to ask what his real name was! No problem, really, except I didn't want to call him "Wolf"!

It's just a matter of personal preference and what we feel comfortable with. If you're comfortable sharing your real name, that's fine. If not, that's fine, too.

Bernie Brewer, however, is going to take a while to get used to!

PS- Bobby, I'm just fooling with you. Some of us are comfortable, some aren't. I have three people in my family named Bobby. So, a pretty common name and welcome to the forum!
