I've been drinking "Snakebites" at my local pub. Its a mix of stout and pear cider. I have been toying around with the idea of brewing a stout and mixing it with blackberry cider made from berries that I have picked. I've never tried this before, so I'd love some input.

Here is the plan:
I'm going to buy this kit:
http://www.nwbrewers.com/Products/Cascade-Stout-Beer-Kit__13006.aspx

Then I'm going to make some blackberry cider:
20 lbs blackberries
Water up to 5 gallons
Sugar up to 1.090 SG (Ok, its more of a carbonated wine)
Cote des Blancs yeast

My plan was to do both primary and secondary fermenting for each, then mix them right before I bottle. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm afraid the yeasts won't play nice together.

it would probably be delicious. there's a meadery nearby that makes cider as well (http://www.rabbitsfootmeadery.com). they make a black cherry cider and a stout, and they'll mix them in their tasting room. it's one of the favorites.

I wonder how a regular cider (ie apples) and a stout would mix...

I live like 3 minutes from there, but I still haven't gone (even though I love mead).

I routinely have the barmaid pour me 1/3 angry orchard, 2/3 guiness.

Snakebites are traditionally done with pale beers.
