Just got done fermenting a kolsch-style ale using Wyest Kolsch, and I want to re-use the yeast.

Anyone think it could work for a porter?

On a different note, I was at one time thinking of brewing up a Baltic Porter, but I heard it uses lager yeast so I stayed away. Any thoughts on using a Kolsch yeast as a substitute (i've heard its like an imitation lager yeast).

Thanks!

Kolsch yeast could work in a medium gravity porter, but not a baltic porter. It isn't very alcohol tolerant.

Kolsch yeast produces a distinct flavor which probably won't be detectable in a porter.
