hey all,
Followed several recipes for various types of ales with lots of success. (Except the all grain one...disastrous!)
Anyways, looking to "make my own" ale but not sure what types of hops will give me what kind of flavor in the finished product. Don't care for anything too bitter so, that being said any info would be great... Looking for something like:
This type of hops = this flavor
Thanks

As a new brewer, I'm completely overwhelmed by the numbers of hops now available, and even by the descriptions of their flavor and aroma characteristics. It'll just have to be a trial and error thing for me. The other thing I've been doing is buying beers and researching the kinds of hops that are in them. That's what drove me to buy a pound of Centennial - I had a six-pack of Two Hearted and loved it.

Thanks all....

I've told my kids a thousand times "Google is your friend" and I never thought of that.....

Also when first using a hop, I compare what multiple sources have to say about it. You'll find that people have wildly different perceptions of hop flavors.

For instance, I've heard that Summit hops taste like tangerines, and I've also heard if tastes like garlic and onions. I plan on doing a 1 gallon batch with it someday to ultimately find out.
