I'm entering my first big competition and have an oatmeal, coffee and chocolate stout. We're limited to the BJCP bottle ID labels, but the guidelines state that I must include underlying style AND spices used when entering category 21A.

How do I put this on the label?

Would the following work:
BJCP Category: 21A
BJCP Subcategory: 13C - "Chocolate Coffee Stout"

Any better/different/more appropriate ways to do this?

You will score better if you can provide details on the underlying beer style. If the underlying style is Oatmeal Stout, then put it in the subcategory like so:

13C: "Chocolate Coffee Oatmeal Stout". This will help the judges to judge it as an oatmeal stout with coffee and chocolate instead of a RIS with coffee and chocolate or a Dry Irish Stout with coffee and chocolate.

I've judged spice, herb, and veg several times and the beers that win are not only well brewed but also give the judges direction instead of leaving us open to interpret the beer as we want to.

I hope this helps.
