For me the grief is still too near...

Agalloch is officially broken up

Agreed. Mantle and Ashes are pinnacles of metal for me, right up there with the best of the best. I hadn't seen that article. That bums me out even more knowing that it was a total band decision. Reminds me of Opeth and how Mike altered the lineup of that band.

Everyone is b*tching about the clean vocals and what not, but the riffs/groove is still there in full force. Best album they have made since From Sirius to Mars in my opinion.

This album is just a beast from start to finish. Sky Burial was good, but this album takes the ideas on that record and hurtles them into a different stratosphere. Also, for you physical media fans, the vinyl packaging is beautiful! buy now.

What else can I say about this band other than ... They f*ckin' SHRED! David Davidson's songwriting gets better with each album, and he uses his instrument as a weapon. If you like ridiculous solos on every song you listen too, then this is your album!

Anyone out there as stoked as I am for the DOUBLE album of new songs Metallica is putting out in November? The new song is angry!

I was not looking forward to anything from them as I had given up all hope long ago that they could actually make good music anymore. I still have not listened to this but a good friend of mine mentioned that he heard a new song recently and that it was actually pretty good. I will probably listen to it sooner or later just to see. but I am still extremely apprehensive and skeptical at this point. Regardless I would say that a double length record with much good content is an impossibility based on their track record since black.

Dagon must have a database full of riffs that would make Tony Iommi jealous, because this dude just cranks out black metal riffs like he farts.
