Dipping My Toe Into Water Adjustments

I'm trying to adjust my brew water for the first time and wanted to run this by. I used the Brewers Friend Water calculator to get to this profile https://www.brewersfriend.com/mash-chemistry-and-brewing-water-calculator/?id=TS9XSZM This is from straight distilled water. Do these additions...

Critique My New Belgium 2 Below Clone Recipe

New Belgium's 2 Below was always a favorite winter brew of mine but they don't make it any more. I'm setting out to clone it using the info from their website. I'm trying to figure out if a dry hop was included and if the grain ratios are a good start. New Belgiums Website: 32IBU, Ale Yeast...

Bee comitted suicide in my boiling wort

While going through my boil I found a bee had gotten in there somewhere along the way, found him with 15 minutes left. He was boiled for an undetermined amount of time. Wort was boiled for 15 minutes after removal. Anything I need to worry about?

    Belgian IPA Recipe Critique

I have the below idea for a Belgian IPA. I've never tried brewing this style before and wanted to run it by you guys before moving forward. I was a little unsure of the grain bill and whether the fruity hops would clash with the yeast character. This is from Brewers Friend recipe builder...

Full 2.5lb CO2 tank kicked during force carb - leak?

This was my first attempt force-carbing in a keg (1.75g Cannonball/Governor regulator). I set up the system per the instructions and set system to 10psi at 40 degrees last night. I checked on it this morning and the CO2 tank is empty. Would a leak be the only possible cause of this? This...

    Force Carbing 1.75g Cannonball Keg

I've got a brand new 1.75g Cannonball Keg. I was planning on using the burst carb method of setting at 30psi for 24hrs then reducing to 10psi for 2-4 days at 40 degrees used on 5g kegs. My concern is, with the smaller 1.75g volume do I run the risk of over-carbing during the 30psi stage...

    Irish Red Ale Recipe Critique

Pre-bottle sample tastes sweet, hop flavor not coming through

I bottled a batch this weekend and was drinking my final gravity sample. I noticed that it was a bit sweet and there was no hop flavor at all. It was almost a bit Budweisery. The post-boil wort sample I tried on brew day had a noticable hop flavor. I did a 2 gallon batch with the below...

Mini-Fridge that fits 3 gallon glass carboy

I'm trying to find a mini-fridge for fementation chamber that will fit a 3 gallon glass carboy. I bought this Danby model 2.6 Cu Ft fridge based on measurements, but I couldn't close the door. The height was fine, but measurements don't take into account the compressor hump at the bottom...

Thermoelectric Wine Fridge as a Fermentation Chamber?

Anybody have experience with using a un-modded wine fridge as a fermentation chamber for temp control? Would I be safe to pull all the shelfs out and throw a 3 gallon carboy in there at 66 degrees (for ale) assuming it fit? Would the fridge be able to keep up?

First Recipe, Is This Hop Schedule/Recipe Good?

This is my first attempt at making my own recipe. I went over to Beer Tools and plugged it in, I'm going for a Pale Ale. I'm a fan of Simcoe and Citra hop flavors thought they would blend well together. Beer Tools has me estimated IBUs at 43, but am hesitant on the hop schedule. Here's the...
