    back from a hiatus

Well after a year or 2 break I am back! Found some new friends who like to brew more than I do. Since christmas I've made: 5 gallons of bock 5 gallons of wheat ipa (bottling tonite) 5 gallons of multigrain red (still fermenting) 5 gallons of apfelwine (still fermenting) as soon i...

    Kansas Continental nc69 w/ extras

I have a 10-12 year old Continental NC 69 Kegerator. The unit doesn't work, I think the compressor is out. I bought this about 3 years ago and the compressor was out I had a local commerical repairman come and replace it. . The owner said he had replaced the compressor once before. The unit...

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

One of he annoying things i hear is "what are you gonna do with 5 gallons of beer?" I procede to tell them that it is about 50 beers and it will last me about a month or so. Another funny thing to talk to people about is kegerators: it seems that not many people know what it is...

Agreed, i already have a johnson a419 controller i used for something else. So i really only need to buy 3 fridge shanks, if I use that full sized fridge that is in there . Only thing i don't like about a freezer is I usually have a 1/2 barrel kegs on tap. I am unsure if i can lift one that high...

Re-using commercial bottles, are some better than others?

i think the grolsch bottles are the best. I don't like the beer though. Several month ago the LHBS had a few cases of grolsch bottles in the nice plastic cases for sale. I wish i would have pick them up. ive found it is nice to have all the same sizes of bottles when using a bench capper. it...

Was thinking about buying these. http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/taps-faucets-pid-FCA-A.html Has anyone tried them out? I was wanting to use these so i could run shorter beer line.

    I've pulled a stupid

At least it is contained in your freezer vs all over the floor. I feel for ya! It is not if you loose a keg of beer, it is when!!

If you could bottle or keg?

recently i have been priming my kegs with sugar or DME. before that i was force carbonating. i am mainly usign sugar now becuase my co2 tank i carb with is empty and it needs inspected. both ways have worked good. i like using DME the best becuase it seemed to have better head retention.

Thinking about converting to all sanke kegs.....

you can also buy new sanke 1/6th barrels. however they are about 100 bucks a pop unless you bought a pallette of 24. also the brand new ball lock gets are nice. i bought a 2.5 gallon one for my kid's root beer.

    WTB-Brew Stand in CO

yup the top is welded up already. it is 56x16. the inside squares are 12x12 the spacing is 3.5 inches vs 2 like in the guide. we did this so a larger pot would fit. orignally we wanted to convert kegs to brew with.

    Kegerator leaking water inside

it is probably condensation. i am not sure how much is normal, but it should have some dort of drain to catch it. both of myne have had the catch,
