    Yet another glycol chiller DIY

So I have 3 goals for this project 1: To utilize my large keezer to house a glycol reservoir 2: Free up my fermentation chamber for storing bottled beer and hops 3:Less equipment and smaller electrical foot print in my brewshed My plan is to use my keezer to hold a glycol reservoir to temp...

    Evil weevils

Yea I second on just putting your grain in the freezer. I once got a 55lb bag of biscuit from a buddy and it was seriously invested. I had to put grain in my freezer as I chased down the source of the infestation.

Cooling coil mod for SS Brew tech 14 gallon chonical

I'm looking for a more practical solution for temperature control and potential crash cooling utilizing the 1.5" TC opening. Trying to avoid making 17mm holes in my fermenter/lid. The Anvil Crucible cooling solution looks interesting but not quite sure. The brewtech solution is nice but that...

    Recirculation pump for ingrediants

@day_trippr I completely agree. Both vessels would be well purged before the cycling process. I'm just wondering as to the fesability since I've never seen it before. I'd imagine that it should be possible due to the pressure of the liquid leaving the larger keg and the pump.

    Recirculation pump for ingrediants

So I was listening to Dr. Homebrew recently when one of the submitting guest mentioned something interesting. They made a stout and then used a small 1 gallon keg with coconut, cacao and vanilla in a bag and attached the keg to a pump which then connected to a 5 gallon corney keg. They...

    Help with identification

It's a struggle for sure. My next step is to create some 1 gallon batches with these and see what happens. I tasted the worts they were in and didn't find them unappealing. Although given that I don't have a solid base line of whats good makes it difficult. I got an earthy and not overly bitter...

    Help with identification

So I set some jars out and collected some samples. I'm a complete noob when it comes to yeast identification and morphology. Anyone know if this is anything worth keeping? I tried finding some kind of yeast picture references but my Google-Fu must have been way off. Apologies for the photo...

    Help with an APA stall

It's an all grain recipe and a clone of Stone's 7th anniversary pale ale. I got the recipe from AHA. Its been sitting for almost a month now. I stopped checking on it and added some dry hops. I'll prob go ahead and keg it sometime this week. I'll keep yall posted.

    Help with an APA stall

It's kinda of interesting. I typically do a x2 mill on my grains and stir quite often to get everything nice and rinsed.I've only encountered issues with a stalled batch once before using the notorious wyeast 3724(1.030 stall). I'm thinking that maybe the gravity was too high for this yeast...

    Help with an APA stall

Mash schedule was 150F for 60mins with a 90min boil. Gravity reading was done with both tilt hydrometer and actual hydrometer.

    Help with an APA stall

I recently brewed an APA using Imperial House liquid yeast. I made a yeast starter and ran it on a stir plate for 24hrs.I pitched the yeast at an ambient well aerated wort temp of 66F with a SG of 1.066. After 10 days my gravity was at 1.028. My target grav was to be 1.015. After the stall out I...

    No Boil Mash

It's RO water so I'd say a ph of 7. I'm already taking steps to adjust my water profile to match my style.

    No Boil Mash

@papz I can't remember off the top of my head but I believe it was 156f for 60mins using a ClawHammer system. So I was recirculating my water during the process once I came up to temp. I moved my mash out and let it sit to allow the excess to drip for about 15-20min. I'm thinking my issue may...

    No Boil Mash

That sounds correct. I probably should of been more specific to what my gravity reading problems are. The most common problem is coming up low on my gravity readings and then having to add DME to make up the points. Speaking with my local home brewer supply store they recommended going with a...

    No Boil Mash

Sorry wort was my intended terminology. I've never attempted it and was curious about the results. I'm interested in the benefits and perhaps using a variation of this method. I consistently come in about 7 points higher then my intended OG (10.060->10.067). I'm thinking maybe im boiling for too...
