    Flat Amber

Thanks for the link. Very handy. Do you think that I should leave it at 70 degrees and check another one in a few days? Or maybe raise the temp higher than 70? No, no way of telling which ones were first and last. Even if I didn't stir after racking I sure feel like all of the swirling around...

    Flat Amber

I just used one of the 5 oz. packs of brewing sugar from a homebrew shop that is supposed to be for five gallons. Is there different amounts needed for different temps? I dissolved it in 2 cups of boiling water and poured it into the bottling bucket and then racked the beer on top of it. I can't...

    Flat Amber

I recently brewed an Abita Amber clone and it is flat after bottling. I brewed this recipe before and it was good. This time I changed a few things just for the sake of experimenting. I used store bought Spring Water instead of tap water. I used Wyeast 2565 Smack Pack instead of Safale K-97 dry...

    Secondary fermentation

Soulshine2 - This is only my second batch. I'm extract for now. I used 6.6lb Amber Malt Extract, 12oz Crystal 40L, 12oz Crystal 80L, 8oz German Carapils, and 8oz German Dark Wheat. 0.75oz Tettnang 60 mins, 1oz Tettnang 10 mins. Belgian S-33 Yeast. I tasted it when I took a sample to test. Tastes...

    Secondary fermentation

I steeped the pecans in with the grains. I'm thinking that maybe I should have added them to the boil for the whole time. I'll see how this turns out.

    Secondary fermentation

I have instructions for a southern pecan clone recipe that I brewed and the instructions tell me to ferment for 5-7 days and then transfer to a secondary fermenter for 5-7 more days. I am now on day 8 and it is still bubbling. I'm a little leery to transfer to secondary while it is still active...

Can using a refrigerator as a fermentation chamber affect the release of CO2?

Beginner here. On my second batch. It's hot where I live so I converted a refrigerator into my fermentation chamber so that I can maintain the proper temperature. My concern is since a refrigerator is pretty much a sealed box will it slow down the release of CO2? I'm asking because when I check...
