Using a 5 gallon yeast cake for a 20 gallon batch. Will this work?

Hey brewers. As the title suggests. I have recently acquired all the equipment to do 15 to 20 gallon batches. 30 gallon kettle with a 5500w element and a brewing bag to do ebiab. Still use my robobrew 35l for batches I enjoy and to try new recipes. My friends like my beer so I plan to brew...

Want to move from 5 to 10 gallon batches. Any recommendations oh wise ones of the brew community?

This sounds like a nice setup. I obviously would have to wire a 220v setup to achieve this, but I would have to do that for the 65L Robobrew anyways. The expense that puts it over the top is the Controller. Those seem to be around $500 alone.

Want to move from 5 to 10 gallon batches. Any recommendations oh wise ones of the brew community?

Thanks for the reply. I dont mind the cleaning as I work in an industry that requires that as 25% of what I do! For me I dont really have the outside brew option where I live and I prefer indoor brewing. That and a small footprint. I have a small house with no Garage :(. So I am aiming at...

Want to move from 5 to 10 gallon batches. Any recommendations oh wise ones of the brew community?

Thanks for all the replies guys and gals. I guess I was reaching out for some viewpoints and suggestions and all your answers and questions are great! To elaborate. I guess I am asking that at $1000 bucks are there better options brewers like yourselves would suggest. I have only done all grain...

Want to move from 5 to 10 gallon batches. Any recommendations oh wise ones of the brew community?

As the title says. I currently use a robobrew 35L and love it. I just need to make more beer in the same amount of time. I enjoy the process, don’t get me wrong, but I also share with friends and the beer goes quick. I have been looking at the 65L version and it would be apples to apples but the...

Thanks for the input guys. RPh_Guy - That makes sense. I am going to give this a try! isomerization - I have not seen anything done before really, thus the questions. I will go with fresh and then frozen fruit. Did you break it down by freeze thaw freeze thaw? or just slap it in a muslim bag...

Oslo Lager with Fruit. Can it be done?

Hey guys and gals. I have some Oslo yeast waiting to be used. I was under the impression that this yeast can make a clean lager without lagering by fermenting in the 90s. Is it possible to brew a lager with pilsner malt and a low AA hop, put it on top of some fruit and make a fruity pilsner? Am...

I think my cereal killer is toast

I had the same problem with my mill. What I do is spray a little water on the grain once it is weighed. Just enough to get it slightly moist, not wet. This helps the roller grab and keeps the dust down. Maybe give it a shot?

Questions about a Kolsch. Am I doing this right.

Thanks for all the responses! I put it on gas and will start enjoying it in a couple days. Will report back. I actually got the recipe from my LHBS. I had never used pilsen malt on anything and he gave me the recipe stating that it was a good start. Super simple always seems like the best way to...

Questions about a Kolsch. Am I doing this right.

Hey guys and gals. I made a simple kolsch using WLP029 yeast. Fermented it 3 weeks in primary at room temp which is around 75 degrees. Cold crashed and racked it into a keg. I was under the impression that this needs to lager in my keezer for 4 weeks. When I took the FG i tried the sample.....it...

Imperial Stout Sweet Chocolate Milk Stout

Just kegged this up last night on some priming sugar to get a natural carb going and purged with co2. Now I wait. What amount of time would this be best to sit for? I was thinking 3 months but the wait.......it could be too much! Damn did it smell tasty racking, chocolaty wonderfulness!

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I just brewed this on Saturday with Nottingham and it is bubbling like crazy. Had to go blow off tube. Is this normal? Checked gravity and right on. Is Nottingham an aggressive yeast. Excited to try this. Will 2 weeks be enough fermenting?

What flavors will change when fermentation is complete to carb?

Thanks TechfanMD. That is what I was hoping to hear. Its my first all grain and so far everything is on point. 1. The green thing makes perfect sense 2.It as warm and dry hopped so cold would be much better 3. Again another good explanation. Cheers!

What flavors will change when fermentation is complete to carb?

Hey guys and gals. I am just curious about how the flavor changes from taking a sample when transferring a keg to a finished carbed up beer a week later. I tried a pale ale and it seems really bitter and dry....which is sort of good. But at the same time it isn't great. Will carbing change...
