They should make an air freshener that smells like fermenting wort

Seriously, does anybody else take a whiff in their fermentation chamber and enjoy the burning nose sensation and is like 'that's gonna be delicious' :D

    I’m joining the dark side

Just an update, man I'm loving it lol. Got my 2nd keg in there a couple days ago (Belgian Wit) and probably going to make an apple cider for the gf who doesn't like beer but loves cider. Instead of a 2 hour bottling / cleaning process, it took 30 mins, and that included installing new air lines...

Already on that spare CO2 tank. Something is addicting about being able to pull on a tap and get beer at will lol.

    Quick force carbing question

First timer and was just trying to get everything set up, on further thought yeah I was thinking I should disconnect the beer line for now. There’s no keg ready to go because this is my first keg lol, I fully plan on having always at least 1-2 going. It’s a triple tap setup :) Do I have to...

    Quick force carbing question

ok thanks guys! I have everything connected and everything appears fine atm, though i think the next go I'll leave the tap disconnected until it's prime time

    Quick force carbing question

Hi, finally got everything hooked up and burped the keg and made all the connections in my kegerator. but I was just thinking, is it better to keep the beer going out connector disconnected from the keg while force carbing or does it not matter?

    I’m joining the dark side

You're already right. I'm thinking of buying 1-2 more just to have a ready-to-go keg when one of em gets kicked. I was thinking of brewing a batch before one gets emptied and priming it so it'll be ready to rock once it's hooked up and chilled. Is that a good way to go? I honestly don't mind a...

    I’m joining the dark side

luckily I’m not married yet and the place I bought wasn’t one I bought with someone else, so it’s my house... for now ;) if anything, my girlfriend always commented on the bottle trees and empty bottles by the sink. At least a kegerator and growlers look cooler lol. I have to keep the...

    I’m joining the dark side

For a couple years I’ve been adamant about bottling, and I’m not sure if this is a natural progression of things, but one day I just said F it, bottling day is the one thing I hate. So, I just bought a couple kegs from my LHBS and another fridge :)

Probably my biggest **** up, what to do?

sampled one after day 2, still undercarbed. I'll try again on day 4, there was barely any carbonation. Wonder if the rate at which the carbonation builds up is the same (usually takes 5 days to fully carb at room temp where I live)

Probably my biggest **** up, what to do?

most of the batch before I realize I effed up, was paying too much attention to the football game and was on auto pilot

Probably my biggest **** up, what to do?

IPA, US-05, 1.060 - 1.011, I usually just put 1/2 tsp of cane sugar, put in a full tsp by accident. 12 oz bottles

Probably my biggest **** up, what to do?

Accidentally added double the amount of sugar while bottling, what should I do? Check the bottles daily until the carbonation is right? Or put them in the fridge already and be safe drinking flat beer (but at least it’s beer) lol

Dealing with Angry Wife when Upgrading Brewing Equipment: A How-To Thread

To me, it sounds like she wants to be in the know when it comes to big purchases. Have you ever talked about things with her before buying equipment, and how has that gone? I'm not married but my gf and I live together. She has no problem with me spending money on hobbies, but kinda seems...

    Is this IPA too dark?

it looks a bit dark, but it looks good! I do like IPA's with a little bit of maltiness (sort of like deschutes fresh squeeze)

    Shrinking Beer

I would call horse ****! It ain't high ABV unless it's above 7.5. Heck 6% is like the session IPA's I brew lol

How much extra would you pay to support a LHBS

If it's reasonably priced and around the same price, I buy from the LHBS. I get everything from there minus hops and yeast, for some reason the LHBS is almost 50% more expensive when it comes to those, so I get that from YVH or Amazon. If it were 10-15% marked up I would consider getting them...

    First time bottler

biggest thing I've learned was use a bottling bucket. especially if you're bottling with no help from anyone else. first few bottling days, trying to bottle straight from the siphon was the most frustrating thing ever, especially when you get near the trub and have to restart the siphon. One...

Would you work part time at your LHBS if you could?

nope. already dedicate 40 hours of the week toward work. not going to voluntarily add more in addition to brewing, I have other hobbies that I'm really into like game designing and surfing. And got a gf that demands a lot of my time. Adding another job would get in the way of a bunch of that
