    Outdoor Wedding Bar

My fiancé’s father is building us one of the coolest wedding bars I’ve ever seen! If you’re in the PNW check him out on Facebook at Woodworx he does awesome work. He’s just got some trim and staining left and then the rest is up to me. I’m planning on each wine barrel having a draught faucet and...

    Demijohn conical fermenter

I’m currently fermenting in glass carboys and really need to upgrade to a larger fermenter. Splitting up 10+ gallon batches into multiple fermenters just isn’t working. I came across this picture of a glass carboy converted into a conical fermenter, and I don’t see why it couldn’t be done with a...

    “Corny Killer” experience?

Still really like the idea of this keg though. A couple of alterations and this could be in every home brewers garage. I’m thinking a safety catch for the spear, a second port for a carbonation stone, and dropping the price to around $150. I’ll take 5.

    “Corny Killer” experience?

Go Cougs!! I graduated from Wazzu Pullman last Fall. Actually built my brewery up at school a few years ago. A couple of lectures may have been missed because of it... lol. Great observation I didn’t think about the potential for a spear to the face. The ball lock adapters look like a great...

    “Corny Killer” experience?

Does anybody have experience with this “Corny Killer” 5 gallon keg with a 4” tri clamp removable spear? https://www.kegoutlet.com/16bbl-5-gallon-sanke-keg-with-tri-clamp-removable-spear.html Would solve the problem of myself, my dad, my father in-law, and my friends needing to swap liquid and...

    A couple of low gravities...

I have brewed 6 batches now on my 3-vessel electric herms rig and I am having a blast. 4 out of the 6 I have either hit my original gravity or gotten very close, but two of the batches came out much lower than what the recipe called for. The first was a whit that came out at 1.039 when it...

Questions for My First All Grain Batch

Big thanks to everybody for all of the advice! Nearly two weeks later than originally planned I worked out the kinks in my control panel and was finally able to brew my first batch last night. It was surprisingly easy. I hit all of my numbers and currently have 5.5 gallons of centennial blonde...

    EZboil issues

On the 310 there are 4 LEDs. The second from the bottom is lit up yellow and when I push run the bottom LED lights up green, but the elements still are not heating up. Does it sound like its in the right mode and the problem might be elsewhere?

    EZboil issues

I just finished wiring up my control panel for my 3 vessel eHERMS and I'm having some issues. https://skrilnetz.net/how-to-build-a-brewing-control-panel-herms-240v-30-amp/ These are the schematics I followed and the only components that are different are the PIDs. I used an EZboil 310 for the...

Questions for My First All Grain Batch

I've got a big free standing cabinet that I am installing an ac unit in until I feel like dropping some more cash to build a good fermentation chamber. Not the most precise way to go about it but it should work for now. In general how much does the wort heat up during fermentation? The recipe...

Questions for My First All Grain Batch

I have been looking into the plastic inductor tank conical fermenters that people have been building. What kind of fermenter are you using?

Questions for My First All Grain Batch

I'm not too intimidated by the brew process for my system. I've become pretty familiar with it having spent the last 3 months researching and building my system. Glad to here it's ok to go with bottled water. I was under the impression that my refractometer would replace a hydrometer, but after...

Questions for My First All Grain Batch

So I've never actually brewed beer before. I was planning on starting out slow, but I am at a point in my life where I had the time to do it so I pulled the trigger and built a 3 vessel eHERMS with 15 gallon pots. You can check it out in the DIY forums. Anyways I am just finishing up the...

    3-Vessel eHERMS build

Well its finally starting to take shape!! Haven't quite installed the RTD probes yet, but other than that the pots are all finished. Inline RTD sensors in NPT Ts after the ball valves on the HLT and mash tun, and one installed in the boil kettle wall. I'm pretty proud of my HERMs coil, sparge...

    3-Vessel eHERMS build

Well it turns out I'm not quite the fabricator I thought I was (very difficult to keep 18 gauge SS from warping with a MIG welder). Fortunately I found some 15 gallon kettles for ultra cheap on Brew International and they were delivered earlier this week. I now have everything that I need for...

    3-Vessel eHERMS build

Well I've been asking questions and kicking around ideas on here for a few months now and I finally started my build this afternoon!! I picked up enough 18 gauge SS for 3 15 gallon pots with lids, a false bottom for my mash tun, and a 10 gallon conical fermenter and got to cutting. This is as...

NEW EZboil unit with automated step mashing and boiling

I'm looking to use a 310 to control my 3 vessel eHERMS. Will I be able to use one 310 and switch between elements in my HLT and boil kettle, or do I need separate pids for each element?

    RTD probes and placement?

Not sure just seems like it would be convenient. I suppose if there is a quick disconnect there is no need for the probe to come out. I guess my question is is there an ideal spot to install temp probes? If there isn't an advantage to installing them in-line I'd like to install them in the wall...

    RTD probes and placement?

I'm in the middle of ordering parts for my 3-vessel eHERMS build. I've seen a lot of guys put Auber PT100s in-line before or after the ball valve on their pots. http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/temperature-probes Are people liking this style of RTD? I like the quick disconnect at the probe...
