Illinois Chicago - Wicker Park: Free bottles and cheap mini fridge

Pretty self explanatory. I have a bunch of bottles that are free to a good home. Not sure how many, but at least enough for a 5 gallon batch. The bottles are all different sizes and most have had their labels removed. Located in Wicker Park in Chicago. I will hang on to them until August, but...

Anyone Try Propolis Brewing (Port Townsend, WA)... Awesome Place!!

Top-notch beer and great people too! They also frequent local farmer's markets if you can't make it out to the brewery.

    C02 Drops 2-6 P.S.I in 24hrs; Normal?

I am not really sure about that part, and I am sure that you will get more feedback. That being said. I think that my low pressure gauges wander a bit too. I find they don't wander when I fully close the valve on the tank and use the low pressure gauges to read the keg pressure. If you do some...

    C02 Drops 2-6 P.S.I in 24hrs; Normal?

You are carbonating the water. That 40psi in the headspace wants to find equilibrium with the water. Sounds like that was at 6psi to me. Does it stay at 6 now that you got it there? Your test would work if the tank was empty, or if you let it reach an equilibrium pressure prior to taking the...

    First complement on my beer

My favorite compliment is when I bring a growler of homebrew to a party and hear a random person asking what brewery it came from!

Hydrometer floats too high in the sample

I think that one is for proof, not gravity. If you add vodka does it sink lower?

Typical to see ferm in a few hrs, not this time...

Search for swamp coolers for an easy way to keep temps lower with things that you probably already have handy.

    Leaky Kegs? Ugh!

Does it seal when you put pressure on it? The lever isn't really what does the sealing, but if you want it to be tighter you can stick coins under the feet. Sometimes the lids or kegs can be slightly warped, you can try turning the lid 180 degrees and it might seal better.

    Cold crashing question

Cold crashing will knock more stuff out of suspension so that you have less gunk to dump with your first couple of pints. I also cold crash colder than my keezer temp, so I feel that it helps my beer clear quicker.

How often do you remove fittings and clean them in a Kettle?

I am in the every brew camp. I actually kind of enjoy it too.

Any way to fix a slightly undercarbed bottled beer thats been in the fridge for months

I was thinking about keg pressure charts. You adjust your regulator pressure based on serving temp. In your case, the warmer the beer, the larger the volume of CO2. So, if you let your beer warm a few degrees, you would have more head pressure, and therefore a higher rate of carbonation? I...

Any way to fix a slightly undercarbed bottled beer thats been in the fridge for months

Just spit-balling here, but wouldn't they be a little more carbed if you let them warm a bit before opening?

How long does it take to finish a 5 gallon corny?

About 2 weeks at two taps. I am installing a third and it might add a couple more days. I like to host friends on brew day every couple of weeks. We can usually get through about 1 keg on one of those afternoons.

Any reason to not do this?

That would work, but I personally just dry hop in my primary after fermentation is complete. The only time I really try to dry hop prior to the completion of fermentation is when I am making a NEIPA, and then I dry hop about 2 days into fermentation.
