Beer giving me headaches - Fusel alchohols?

I kegged my pilsner last week and I have drank it twice now. Both times I noticed I felt way more buzzed than I should have from a 5% beer and had a headache about half an hour after. The day after I still have a headache and feel hungover. One time I had two glasses and the other time I had 1...

Help me plan a hoppy sour

I want to make a hoppy sour. If you have had any of the hoppy sour beers from Almananc, that is what inspired this brew. http://www.almanacbeer.com/ourbeer/hoppy-sour-citra/ I'm not looking to clone it, just trying my hand at making something in that style The grains I have on hand...

    Same Beer, 3 Different Bottles

I bottled a small batch today and had to scrounge for spare bottles. I ended up using 3 different types and thought this made a cool photo. It looks like pineapple juice, Midori, and regular beer. The beer is a Saison that ended up being 9.2% :tank:

International Pale Lager Japanese Rice Lager

This recipe was inspired by http://www.brewingwithbriess.com/Recipes/beer/display/amaze-ake-me-japanese-pilsner. I made several changes to fit my tastes and brewing setup. I also borrowed the hopping schedule from this thread https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=255659. That was one of...

Help with picking a fruit to add to Berliner Ryeiss

It's been 3 months since brewing my berliner rye and I did my first tasting. Its only slightly tart, pretty watery with some lemon flavor, and very dry (from the rye I assume). It also has an oz of french oak cubes in there, probably adding to that dry factor. The SG was only at 1.012 after 3...

First try at a Belgian IPA

My first crack at a Belgian IPA. I'm mostly looking to ensure that the hops/yeast don't clash. The yeast is peppery, spicy, citrusy and I tried to complement that with the hops. I also want to keep the alcohol around 6%, I don't like drinking 8%+ beers. OG 1.057 FG 1.008 ABV 6.6 IBU 102...

Looking for input on a "New World" Pilsner recipe

I'm working on a variation of the classic Pilsner with some "new world" hops, Motueka and Sorachi Ace. Moteuka and Sorachi are both cousins of saaz, with some spicy notes combined with citrus. Another change from a traditional pilsner is I wanted to use wheat (because I like brewing with it)...

Slight buttery flavor with wlp029. Diacetyl?

As the title says, I just finished primary fermentation with 029 and I taste a slight but noticeable buttery after taste, which I haven't noticed in any of my other batches. The beer is a light "lager" with OG of 1.045, so any off flavors are apparent. I made a 2L starter from some...
