    Plastic boil kettles (pail)

I should try doing hot tap next time I do this. Trying it with a 1500 heat stick as my main heat source. I'm looking to upgrade to a 5500w heatstick for my 10 gallon pot, but it heated nicely with the 1500 watt.

    5500w Heat stick

Holy smokes. I have a 1500w immersion heater that I tried using with my 5 gallon pot and it took over an hour to boil. It's just trying to speed up brew days. Before I upgraded pots, i was splitting my boils between a 5G and 3G pot to end up with about 5.5 in the fermenter. It was a pain in the...

I do buy them for styles sometimes. I still bottle, and have a hundred 22oz bottles now so keeping my inventory from exploding any more.

Still making bad beer after 30+ batches.

I made a few batches of beer on yeast cakes and it turned out less than desired. Otherwise they have been great. The yeast cake ones were awful.

    5500w Heat stick

Just upgraded to a 10-g pot and am looking for an adequate heat stick to supplement this for full boils. Any advice, links, or folks trying to sell one are welcome.

    Black IPA Critique needed

Pretty easy. I'll store some excess wort from the mash tun in a jar and just toss in yeast / shake the day before i start. Probably better techniques out there, but it works for me without any issues.

What about making a starter from one of the yeasts instead of two packages?

    Plastic boil kettles (pail)

I've installed two 1500w heating elements in a large bucke that i'm using for a HLT currently. I haven't decided if I want to use it as a boiling kettle yet, but it might be there eventually. Brings 5 gallons to boil pretty quickly.

Has anyone modified a Mr. Beer lid?

I make 6.5 gallon all grain batches that I split into three mr beer kegs and it works nicely as-is. I like they have spigots so you don't have to use a racking cane to get it into the bottling bucket.

    Scaling recipes

I use Brewers friend and it has a scale function. It's probably no where as smooth as beer smith but works.
