    Is this normal?

It's 70 degrees. Hasn't changed more than 2 degrees up since I pitched it.

    Is this normal?

This is my second batch using a starter. I mixed up DME to make a 1.040 starter 24 hours before I pitched it into 6 gallons of 1.072 (Porter). This is 24 hours later. Is this normal? I have yet to have a blow off tube overflow a 32oz cup half filled with water. I moved it over to a gallon jug...

    Screw it!

Yes, I know. It was the only "Kentucky Chrome" that I had lying around.

    Screw it!

Kind of looks like my set up....but mine isn't as clean, it's in the garage, and it's our second fridge.

    What is in this beer?

Well the gelatin cleared a little bit, but the gunk is still there. Not sure what to do

    What is in this beer?

Thanks. I just added some gelatin. First time I've ever used it. I guess I'll see what it does in a few days. Thanks.

    What is in this beer?

Can I add gelatin after it's been carbed?

    What is in this beer?

It's a brown ale. I added 4oz. Brewers Best coconut extract into the keg. I carbed it at 30psi for 3 days released the pressure and reset to 8 psi to serve. There wasn't anything "suspended" into the beer when I racked it into the keg. I have poured 3 pints now, and it's still in there...

    When to add vanilla extract

    Double post. Sorry

    When to add vanilla extract

You can add more to get the exact flavor you want.

    When to add vanilla extract

I used a vanilla extract from Costco (label says vanilla beans and alcohol for the ingredients). I used 4 oz for 5 gallons of a coffee Porter.

    Show Us Your Label

My first attempt at a label and name. I've named my "hobby"; Big Gear Brewery (after cycling- big gear is the race gear- plus I'm 6'5" and 275). My first beer is a Clydesdale Porter. The tag line is "when you need a full-bodied, big beer to get the job done" I also made a tap, using a cycling...

Anyone else start a brew day and realize you are missing stuff...so it's a quick chan

Watch which ones you get. I got the 12 one from Midwest (same as the NB one). Not worth the $12. Read the reviews on NB, I had the same problem. I'm looking for a new one now. I'm thinking of getting the Aqua Range one.

Anyone else start a brew day and realize you are missing stuff...so it's a quick chan

Started my mash, and went to weigh out my hops to find out I didn't have any hop bags for the main hops (leaf) in my beer (quick search to find a replacement (pellet), none hand, so I used what I had to get the same IBUs). Middle of the mash check showed a little cold, put in some hot water...

    Splenda?

    Thanks!
  18. J

    Splenda?

What is the total amount used for a 5 gallon batch? I don't want the price to get out of hand. I'm also leaning towards the KISS method and sticking with sugar.

    Splenda?

Thanks for all the input. Was just looking for a, tried it before and it didn't work, but more knowledge is always better.

    Splenda?

Anyone ever use Splenda instead of sugar in a root beer recipe?
