    Rice Hulls

I love them. I couldn't imagine brewing with out them again. After a few stuck sparges from too much oats, wheat or rye I decided to give them a try. Anyone out there that doesn't use them I highly recommend them. I have been brewing without them for 2 years. Way too long!

    Arcadia Thunder Trail ESB Yeast

Does anyone have experience harvesting yeast from this beer? There site says it is a type of Ringwood yeast. Their beer has a nice tartness from this yeast. Almost reminiscent of a sour ale. The beer I had was way over carbed. Some gushing when opened. I read about this problem on beer...

    Hefeweizen yeast & Brett C.

I want to try a Hefeweizen co-pitched with Brett C. I will pitch both in the primary at the same time probably about 2:1 in favor of the Hefe yeast. I am curious what the thoughts are with this and also what kind of time frame I would be looking at before I could bottle it. I am new to using...

    Raspberry Saison, Brett or Not?

I am adventuring in to the unknown. I have never brewed a Saison, never used fruit in a beer and never used Brett. I am planning on brewing a Saison this weekend. Using French Saison 3711 yeast. I was planning on racking on to 3 to 4 pounds of wild raspberries(aka wineberries). However I...

Easiest way I found to reuse yeast

I have been doing this for quite awhile. It saves a few bucks per brew and thought I would share. I take one package of yeast and stretch it pretty far. I take one package of liquid yeast and create a one liter starter out of it. The DME I use is $12.99 for 3 pounds. So that breaks down...

    Southern Maryland Water

For those that live in southern Maryland and use well water do you have to alter your water? I assume we are all on the same aquifer and have pretty much the same water traits. I have not had my water tested yet, so I am wondering what your conditions might be. My water seems to be hard. Is...

    Another new Maryland brewer

Hello everyone, I am new to brewing and after reading a ton of information on this site I decided to join. Maybe I will have something useful to contribute one day. Like I said I am new to brewing and decided to jump straight in to all grain brewing. I have 7 batches under my belt now...
