    Building a kegerator.

Put down a big chunk of masking tape over the area you plan on drilling, then use a punch to create a dimple so your drill bit doesn't want to walk. Then proceed with a holesaw bit or standard bit depending on size mentioned above.

Going electric and at a loss

This sounds like a good start for me. It sounds like I can add to this system in the future, just need more of the same components and more vessels/pumps/connections? Or I can just stay biab with my current keggle if I'm content. I found the TD4 on amazon and I can get a box locally. But, is...

Going electric and at a loss

Gspot- A simple All-n-1 system sure has its appeal, esp cleaning and storage. Plus, like you, I'm brewing more than I'm drinking....I have 6 kegs and sometimes have to put off brewing because I know I won't have space for several weeks (bring on 1/2batch brewing) Paps- I can certainly...

Going electric and at a loss

I'd like to stop propane cooker brewing and go electric. But...the more I read on here, the more I realize I know nothing. Getting a heating element installed into my keggle is straightforward enough, but it's all the stuff between it and the wall outlet that losses me. Are there systems a guy...

Drilling kegerator for gas lines. Little help

That's exactly what I did about a month ago to move my tank out of the fridge. I'm glad I did it this way. Yes I had to buy an extra line but it's worth it to do it right the first time.

    Hall of shame

When someone offers a deal on kits, I have no problem picking up a few. They turn out good and take less time to make, I also have no shame though.

    RO vs Distilled Water

My local Walmart sells it for $0.37/gallon. Or, you can buy jugs of it from them, 1-5 gallon containers.

The HomeBrewTalk Top Recipes - Part 1

I just brewed the ESB, but I screwed something up....Probably the water since I used all RO water. I have stuff for 3 other batches, once they're done I'll do the ESB again because I know it can be great if I do my part right. This winter when I can ferment a lager, I'll try both the Dunkel and...

    Need some advice

Skip the 2nd fryer, buy a used 16gal keg off craigslist, cut the top off and add a drain valve. More capacity, no worries of boilers. Or.....buy both fryers AND the keg, brew multiple batches at once

Is honey in the keg OK?

I went ahead and kegged without, if I feel it's needing more flavor then I'll add a pound. I also promised the wife I'd make a honey beer soon, so maybe an American wheat is on the way and I'll try honey with it.

Is honey in the keg OK?

Well, as the title states....is it? I brewed a Dunkel and am now thinking of adding honey to the keg in hopes of getting some honey flavor. If so, how much for 5 gallons? Dump straight in or do something to it first?

A few questions about 10 gallon batches

That's exactly what I did on a batch I split just to experiment with different water. Split my grain evenly and did back-to-back brews. It may take you longer this way, but you won't have any capacity worries....boil over issues....and just lifting/moving that much wort wouldn't be fun.

    apollo hops?

I'm finally drinking my chocolate ale, one of my best yet. I went easy on the hops, . 3oz of magnum for 60, then. 2 and. 3oz of apollo at 10 and flameout. I think I'll try a wheat sometime with more apollo, but like I said earlier, I wanted more flavor from the grain....and the cocoa.

    Chocolate addition help

I've made 2 chocolate stouts with nibs, neither had any kind of chocolate taste. I just bottled a chocolate ale that I used cocoa powder, very noticeable chocolate smell.....but it's still carbing so I can't comment on taste yet. To answer your question though, nibs were added in secondary.

    Making mead?

You will need yeast nutrient for making mead, honey is virtually void of nutrients. Check out the mead forum and mead recipe section of our forum, you'll find plenty of info to get started. Including how to make, what to use, what not to use, and variations from basic meads.

NB's Cascade Mountains West Coast Imperial IPA - Green, Infected or Bad?

I just bottled this beer 3 days ago.....and now I'm thinking it's gonna suck just based off the hop description. I made a 3qt starter, hopefully I don't have a yeast count issue. I did have concerns about the amount of sugar in the recipe, but was assured it was fine. I also fermented in the...

    Yeast washing

Perfect, I have right at 1 liter of the slurry and it came from an IPA, so I'll assume the lower density even though I strain through a mesh filter when going into the fermenter. And since I'm making a beer that calls for 800+ billion, I guess I'm using both bottles of sludge.....err, um slurry...

    Yeast washing

First, sorry the pic is sideways....I promise it's landscape in the gallery, it just posted in portrait. Second, I'm on an Android tablet and when I go to MrMalty it directs me to an app in the play store, does the website have all the info when accessed from a PC, or is it a pay site? I have...
