Has any one used priming sugar to carbonate in a keg. I have a keg but no co2. Was thinking of using priming sugar and one of those mini co2 hook ups for pouring.

Had an idea that came to my head. When transfering to a secondary, if i filled the funnel full of loose hops and siphoned the beer through that, would i get any extra hop essence? Or is it a waste of hops.

So i have got my controller all wired up and it seems to be working except that the heating pad and the fridge are both running at the same time. Any tips?
