    Bourbon chips

So I am about to start another beer. This time a lager. It is one of those kits where i add sugar myself. While Yes I realize they are not the best in the world I live in an apartment as a student and will be possible leaving in a few months so i can't invest in proper equipment. HOWEVER i...

    brew kit/sugar questions

Queequeq - thanks that is exactly what i was thinking but wasn't 100% sure on the coffee. I will just pour it in w/ priming sugar. Fartinmartin- I do agree with you , but for right now. I have no job (I am a student) so while I would love to start buying more equipment and do actual all grain...

    brew kit/sugar questions

I don't HAVE to do honey or really any of these I was just looking for something new to try because I did a lager with 1kg of white sugar and while it's OK at best it is very cidery flavor which is because of the sugar. I was just looking for suggestions or if anyone has tried them. which some...

    brew kit/sugar questions

Back to my main question what about the sugars that I wanted to add? Would those be a good fit? or would that give it a weird taste Of adding 500g of light spray malt, 250g of brown sugar then the equivalent of 250g of honey.

    brew kit/sugar questions

any coffee grounds I buy here are terrible doesn't matter what i try. If its sealed in a container which is all of them they are bad. I haven't found a place in my city that has fresh coffee grounds. I LOVE coffee and here is how I would compare it, the folgers crap (which is terrible also) you...

    brew kit/sugar questions

Ok so i have made 3 of the kit things with the standard instructions. I was thinking of "spicing" it up a little LOL well not that much I would still used the canned stuff but instead of using the sugar that it wants I was thinking of different things I have a coopers dark ale which calls...

    last 2 brews taste sweet

yeah I sort of figured the canned kits weren't that good but it's all i can afford/ have time to do right now. My third brew does have malt extract so i am hoping for something different. I would love to move up to all grain but unfortunately i am a masters student with no job and have limited...

    last 2 brews taste sweet

I was following the directions and for a 23 litre batch for coopers lager was 1kg of sugar. then at bottling time you use 4.5 oz of sugar for bottling ballsy what do you mean PM or AG? I just started so i don't know all the lingo The fermentation temps were about 20c. Unfortunately it can...

    last 2 brews taste sweet

Hey so I just recently into brewing and so far i've made a porter and a lager. both of them have turned out ok. However both have a sweet after taste. I am curious as to why? each of them have set in the fermenter for at least 2 weeks each then calculated priming sugar and bottled. Waited 1.5...

    priming sugar amount

Ok I am about to bottle and I have a major discrepancy on which one to do. I am using a canned beer the premade stuff and the instructions says to use 2.5 oz of priming sugar for my 40 pint kit. I have an app on my tablet "brewer's friend" and I used the priming sugar calculator on that is...
