PH Drop with new RO system

Ok, so I just installed a new RO system and before I was getting RO water from the store. I brewed a beer on Friday with my RO water and my PH was .5 lower than Bru'n Water calculated so this puzzled me enough to brew another beer today and see if the same thing would happen and sure enough it...

    RO Faucet

I am going to purchase a RO Faucet and I will have 3/8" lines to the faucet. It looks like most of the RO faucets use 1/4 in and comes with a 3/8 adapter. My question is there any faucets that actually output for 3/8? What I mean is even if I attach a 3/4" line it is still restricted to the 1/4...

    Maple Sap Profile

So I have tapped a couple of maple trees and plan to use the sap in place of all the water for mashing and sparge. I did some googling around and I came up with an average mineral profile of the sap to be around Ca 41 Mg 7 Na 35 S04 5 Cl 90 HCO3 140 The PH was 6.14 and the OG was 1.008. I...

    Grape Flavor

So I have a tried and true Oktoberfest recipe that has placed well in comps but my wife says she tastes grapes when she drinks it (I can not). After further discussion between her I we decided to go out and try a commercial Oktoberfest and see how it compares so we ordered a Hacker-Pschorr and...

    Brun Water vs BeerSmith

I am wondering if anyone has noticed that BeerSmith will give a different estimated mash ph vs Brun Water? The last batch we did Brun Water calculated a ph of 5.4 whereas Beersmith came up with 5.61.

    Antwerp Ale Yeast (WLP515)

Made a beer yesterday with Antwerp Ale Yeast (WLP515) and it is bubbling away nice but there is zero kräusen on top. I cant say I have ever had an ale ferment that way before. Is that typical for that yeast? It is fermenting at 68 degrees (Room Temp). I did make a starter for this beer and it...

    Opium Producing Yeast?

They have created a yeast that produces opium. I am sure this will eventually get in the wrong hands. Not sure what to think of this. :drunk: http://www.newsweek.com/2014/10/03/diy-opium-created-yeast-draws-science-beer-brewing-271860.html

    Cloudy StarSan

I have been using StarSan for some time now and never have had this issue before and I am wondering if anyone can give me some insight on this. The issue is after mixing the StarSan with the water for some reason the liquid is milky in appearance. After the first time this happened I dumped it...

    White Cap Beer

Ok this is probably a stretch but one never knows. I was given some hop rhizomes some time ago that were growing in Two Rivers, WI and was told they were the ones used in making White Cap Beer which was brewed in Two Rivers. My hopes are that someone out there might know what type of hops were...
