    Question about primary

I currently have a cyser going, and I've always been curious about the first few days of primary. I've heard that some people don't airlock it and I've heard that some do. I was just wondering the pros and cons of BOTH putting an airlock on or keeping it off for the first few days of primary...

    Haze at bottom

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get this hazy looking cloud out of the wine. I'm thinking it's pulp, but is there a way to get rid of it without sacrificing much of the wine? EDIT: it's blueberry if that helps at all.

    Yeast culture

I know it is possible to re-use yeast cakes, and to wash yeast. But my question is how do I start a yeast culture? Is it cheaper to go that route?

    Question about aging with oak

I helped my friend start his first batches of wine. We started a strawberry and Welches red. Must turned green, then brown, now red.

A friend of mine started his first batch by himself from grapes that he got on sale. He said it was looking fine then it turned green, then the next day he said it looked like poop. I've no idea how to approach it, but I told him to keep it going and see what happens. Today he sent me a picture...

    I got a question

I recently topped up my peach and banana wine, and had to be out of town for a couple days. Before it seemed like fermentation had slowed down, and when I topped up fermentation picked back up again. I know adding sugar can restart fermentation, but my main question is this: is it normal for...

Would like some ideas about blueberries

I've just juiced about 6 or 7 pounds of blueberries and got a gallon of juice with them. I used a metal mesh strainer to strain the juices and was wondering if anyone knew how to get rid of all of the seeds, and if anyone had any recipes to use them with I'm all ears! I've got roughly 9.5 pounds...

    Planning on making blackberry mead

If you guys could give me some input, I'd appreciate it. I'm still pretty now to all this, so any and all advice is always accepted. Here is what I'm thinking: 3 pounds of honey (I have no idea what kind) 5-8 pounds of blackberries (don't know to juice or not). That's about all I've thought...
