    My go to cider recipe

    Approximately 5gal. apple juice. Motts or Berkley Jensen. 2 cups light brown sugar and 1.5 pounds honey. Safale 05. Keg and don't drive. Sg is 1.7 Fg is 1.1

    Cider fermenting 16 days and counting.

    Sg started 1.065 checked today and is 1.01 and still getting airlock action. Anybody have this problem. Rehydrated Nottingham.

    half pears added to secondary. Is it ok?

    I have 5 gal of cider . 2lbs honey 1 lb sugar 1lb corn sugar 1.072 OG I want to add pears canned for flavor its been four days fermentation and slowing with 04. When could I add fruit and not ruin it? I was gonna rack it right onto the pears and let it finish or should I let it finish first?

    Storage Question

    Here is my first attempt 2.5 gal apple juice 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup corn sugar, s04. Campden and pot. sorbate .Back sweeten with concentrate. I dont have any fridge room but my base stays about 65 deg. Question is how long could I store this in my keg at this temp? Thanmks.

    pump air in wort with racking cane before pitching

    Is it enough to cover the top of the cane with your thumb and pump air into the wort before pitching?

    20 lb tank with siphon tube to fill my 5 lb

    The fire supply sold me a 20 lb tank with a dip tube and a high pressure hose for 95$. Question is the hose doesnt have any s/o can I just put say 4 lbs in slowly and just use the 20 lb s/o valve while the 5 is on the scale.

    Will I save on co2 if I do this.....

    I have been closing my co2 tank between servings. When I want a cold one I pump the co2 on at about 20 for a couple of minutes pour and shut off again. Repeat. Is this helping Me save at all?

    natural gas furnace burner

    I replaced my furnace this spring and pulled the burner assembly out of the old one. Anyone try this? I am kind of concerned that the flame isnt spread out enough to heat evenly. Just want to get some input before I spring for a regulator.

    splitting the batc between keg and bottles

    Is it ok to prime 5 gal of beer with dextrose then keg half and bottle half does this save any money on the CO2.

    Question Are these fermentable according to Palmer yes. I am not so sure. Are these just for color? I dont care so much about either what I want to know is how many and how much is needed to provide a specific flavor. Otherwise I wont waste my money. I like malty beers like really strong...

    ageing processes

    I am wondering if ageing beer in the bottle is the same as ageing it in a carboy.Are the benifits the same? I need to free up my three carboys. I have imp blonde ale, russian imp stout, and an extract dopplebock....
